Chapter 14
The knock on the large wooden door grew louder and the visitor outside the Bundela mansion pressed the bell again. Sanchi turned towards Ahaana and immediately spoke, her lips quivering. "Aha-ana, don't move out of the ro-om until I return. Reh-aan is sleeping, ple-ase keep an eye on your bro-ther if he wakes up by any cha-nce."
While Ahaana nodded obediently, Sanchi dragged her cold feet outside the room and into the dark corridor of her house. The knocking paused for a moment as she peeked through the eyepiece before flinging the door open.
"Vay!" Shaurya threw his arms around Sanchi's shoulders before engulfing her into a passionate hug. "Why did you take so much time to open the gate? I was so worried for you."
"Shay!" She chided in annoyance, parting from him. "Your conti-nuous knocking sca-red me. I am already alo-ne in the house and have got two chil-dren to look after, and then such thi-ngs happen."
"I am sorry my little sister." He held his ears. "Mom informed me that you are alone and so I thought of accompanying you tonight. Also, there are a lot of things which I need to discuss with you so it was the best chance to do so."
Sanchi let Shaurya into the house and closed the door behind them. "Sin-ce when did you start look-ing for chances to dis-cuss things with me, Shay?"
"I know I can discuss anything with you but this is something I need.. some comfort and loneliness when we talk. It can't be possible in the family or my jerk-like friend Vihaan's presence." Shaurya winked an eye. "By the way, how is Vihaan doing? I haven't spoken to him since ages."
"I have also not spoken to him since ages!" Sanchi thought to herself before conversing again, "He is do-ing great with his dut-ies as a commi-ssioner as well as a father."
"I am happy to know that." Shaurya smiled and plopped down on the sofa. "Get me a cup of coffee, Vay. It was so cold outside."
"I will in five min-utes." Sanchi disappeared into the kitchen and reappeared in less than ten minutes. "Here's your favo-urite espresso."
Taking a sip over the mug, he murmured in amusement. "I rarely get to drink awesome coffees prepared by you. So I think I got a little lucky tonight."
"If you can visit me da-ily, I can get coffee pre-pared for you daily." Sanchi said with a wink.
"You've also learned to joke just like me." He let out a loud laughter. "After all, we both share the same blood. I can keep donating litres and litres of blood to see my sister safe."
"Shay, will you stop fool-ing around now? You don't need to don-ate blood again." Sanchi turned emotional, her eyes gleaming with tears.
Shaurya passed a meek smile before rubbing her shoulder in comfort. "I didn't want to upset you. I said it casually, believe me. We have so many things to do together, Vay. We both have to keep irritating Vihaan every time we face his arrogance, we will have to compete for the preparation of wood apples' syrup in the winter approaching and we will have to make Vihaan do it on your behalf. Most importantly, being the only maternal uncle to your twins, I will have to fulfill their demands they ask from me. I have lots and lots of work to do."
"When will you do some-thing for your-self, Shay?" Sanchi asked sternly, her voice thick with emotions. "You have alw-ays taken care of me and my fam-ily, our parents and the rest. Ha-ve you ever thou-ght of starting your own family and giv-ing me a chance to take care of your pers-onal family too?"
Shaurya averted his gaze from her, his gloomy eyes staring at the dark window pane. "Vay, I told you I want to discuss something."
"You alre-ady look distorted and I right-ly knew some-thing was defin-itely wrong the mom-ent I saw you at our gate. Now tell me wh-at is the matter?"
