Chapter 44
Sanchi sat by the window, scrolling through the gallery of her phone and staring at the photographs of her twins. She had been missing them a lot that day, and while Vihaan was away on his mission to the house of the Ranas, she felt very secluded and lonely.
"How time fli-es!" As she glanced at the photograph of a two-year-old Rehaan, she smiled to herself, "This was a photo whi-ch was taken when I was in Delhi to be with Roh-ini. I used to fe-el so lost those days but it was Vih-aan's love for me which never allo-wed any difficult situa-tion to spoil our relation-ship."
As she scrolled again, she came across another picture from a different time period. "And this is the ph-oto when we cele-brated their tenth birth-day recently. Pihu and Rihu look great toge-ther as they cut their cake."
After scanning through a few other pictures, she paused to take a look at the one which was her favourite. It was an old picture when the four of them had gone for a short holiday trip to the countryside.
"If I take a glim-pse of my life a dec-ade back, I couldn't have even ima-gined of getting married and star-ting a family." A sweet smile filled her face as she recalled all the good old memories. "Fast for-ward to a decade later, I am now a mother to gor-geous twins."
She double-tapped on the screen to enlarge the image. "I won-der how they will look like after ano-ther decade. How-ever they may be, they will at least be stan-ding by each other during hard-ships and extending sup-port to the other one. I know that they alw-ays quarrel at times but the love they poss-ess for each other can't be under-estimated. Both Vih-aan and I want them to be happy toge-ther."
When she proceeded to put her phone aside, a call from Nidhi intruded on her. She received it with the slightest bit of happiness but was determined not to let Nidhi know about anything.
"Hey Vanya, where are you?" Nidhi said over the phone. "Vidya told me that you and Vihaan have gone to Omkareshwar for a few days to spend some alone time together."
"You are under a miscon-ception, Nidhi. We are not on any holiday-ing. Vih is out with some impor-tant case and I am wai-ting for him to return ho-me safely."
"I don't understand what's wrong with every policeman!" Nidhi frowned in annoyance. "Why does Vihaan have to involve you in each and every risky case he handles?"
"Beca-use I am the head analyst of the depart-ment of which he is the commi-ssioner." Sanchi replied with a hint of worry. "Now say why did you ca-ll me?"
"You must be aware that the children's camping will get over tomorrow and they will be returning home by the midnight flight. I wanted to confirm whether you will be joining us since we all had pre-decided that we would be travelling to Shimla and spend an entire day holidaying over there." Nidhi reminded her. "Arjun has also gone to Omkareshwar to fetch his brother so that even he can join us to bring back his son from the camp."
Sanchi's mouth fell open. "Has Arjun'sbro-ther's son also been atten-ding the training?"
"He didn't want to attend at first but upon Aaru's insistence, Arjun had spoken to the authorities and made a provision for his nephew."
Sanchi's mind wandered back to the time when Rehaan and Prachi had complained to her about the boy who used to annoy them. "Is his name Ish-aan?"
"Yes, but how do you know?"
"I. . . I heard abo-ut him from my chil-dren. . ." Sanchi took a pause since she couldn't think of complaining about Ishaan to Nidhi. "Pihu and Rihu had told me th-at they have met Aar-ohi's cousin over there."
