Chapter 6

The next morning I woke up to a knock on my door. 'Who's that?' I thought. Come in I said. It was my mom. 'Hey y/n I forgot to tell you last night because I fell asleep but your cousin Dallas(the one and only) is coming over for a while to stay because he got in a small pickle and he'll be here in an hour or 2' I was so excited when she said that because I love dally hes exciting and fun so it was never boring with him around. 'Ok thanks mom. Do u know how long he's staying?' 'He'll be here for about a month' 'ok thanks momma' she left.

I started to get ready. I checked the time and saw it was 6:32 so I had a good amount of time to get ready. I changed into some fitted jeans that weren't so tight so that I could actually move. I put on my karate kid oversized shirt and my white converse. I went to brush my teeth and put my hair in 2 Dutch braids. I couldn't wear my dogers hat with them so I put on my white bucket hat. I bobby pinned it so it wouldn't fall while i ran.I was ready and went downstairs. My mom had made buritos de papas con huevo(potatoes and egg burritos). I ate 2 and then went back to my room to get my glove and bat. Also my extra baseball. When I was walking downstairs I heard a knock and expected to see Benny but instead I saw a tall boy with dark brown hair and cold blue eyes. 'Hey y/n long time no see' 'Dally!' I quickly wrapped him in a hug and he tried to get away. But I didn't let him. I knew he didn't like hugs so it was hard to get ahold of him. He finally broke free and went to say hi to my parents. There was another knock and that time it would be Benny. I opened it and surely it was Benny. 'You ready to go babe' I then heard footsteps behind me and knew exactly who it was. 'What did you just call her bum' I rarely see dally angry and today was my lucky day. I mentally slapped myself. 'I asked you a question kid' Benny looked petrified. 'I- um we im her best friend' he said trying to fix his words. 'Lay it off dally' 'Sorry Benny this is my cousin Dallas he can be a little protective sometimes' I said rolling my eyes. 'Come on let's go' I told Benny and grabbed his hand and left. But to my surprise dally followed us.

I turned around 'Dally if your gonna come then your gonna be nice and not rude to everyone' 'I can't promise anything kid and also you never told me who this was' he said while looking at Benny. 'Hes my childhood best friend and also now boyfriend'. I saw Dallas ball his fists. He started walking to Benny and Benny looked terrified. 'If you hurt my cousin I swear to fucking God I'm going to kill you and I don't joke about things like this' he told Benny while balling up Benny's shirt with his fist. 'Ok ok man I won't hurt he now can you let me go'. Dally then let him go and we started walking to smalls house.

'Hey y/n, hey Benny and guy I don't know' 'Smalls this is my cousin Dallas but everyone calls him dally' 'well then hi Dallas' said smalls and dally just gave him a glare. 'Dally if your gonna be like this all day then leave ok' 'I would if I knew where everything was stupid' he said rolling his eyes. 'Are you like this because of all the boys I hang with?'. 'Yeah and I don't want any of these guys to act like the stupid ass socs back home' 'You got nothing to worry about dally, there ain't no soc's or greaser's here we are gonna be fine' I said.

After that we started walking to the sandlot in silence. When we got there the guys were in the dugout again. 'Jeez you guys yall take more time each day what the hell' ham kinda yelled. 'Hey you ain't gonna yell at me you little shit' dally said picking ham up by the shirt. 'Dally put him down. NOW' I said and he did as I said. 'Jeez man cool off' said ham. 'Guys this is my cousin Dallas. Dally this is ham,squints,Alan but we call him yeah-yeah, Bertram, Kenny,timmy and Tommy'. 'Hey' they all said and dally just gave them a nod. Alright guys we are wasting daylight let's get playing' said Benny. Everyone started walking to there spot. 'You can sit at the dugout' 'Got a cancer stick on you' he asked. 'I knew you would ask so here' I gave him a pack and went up to bat. 'Alright y/n give um all you got'. I hit the first ball all the way to the fence and made a homer. 'Alright y/n who's got the big bat now boys' said Benny and gave me a hug and spun me off the ground. He put me down and all the guys were just staring at us. 'ARE YOU GUYS DATING' they yelled. 'NO' we said at the same time. We tried to play it off but I think the guys weren't buying it. We continued with our day normally except it was awkward I guess.

When the day was over dally had smoked half the pack. 'Dally wtf you smoked half the pack in less then a day!' 'Pipe down doll im fine I always smoke at least half a pack a day'. 'Jeez man you smoke? How old are you!' 'No I just took a pack of cancer sticks and threw them away yes I smoke and I'm 16' 'your too young to smoke though' said smalls. 'I fight i steal i drink and I'm your typical bad boy' 'Sorry dally these kids well are nothing like you and the gang' 'yall are in a gang!' 'Its not a drug dealing gang squints its just a group of friends who we consider family' 'ohh' they all say. They didn't know about my life back in Tulsa so they fludided questions. 'Ok guys let's go its already late' said Benny. 'Late? Man its barely 9 the day ain't over. Hey y/n know any bars near' dally asked. 'Yeah but you gotta be 18' 'there are things called fake ids if you didn't know y/n' 'Alright but don't get in trouble dally please I ain't gonna bail you out like darry always does' 'I won't I promise y/n' I told him where it was and he told me bye and left.

Me and Benny finally reached my porch. 'Sorry about dally he can get protective but he's a big softy if you get to know him' 'really? He seems terrifying to me'. I laughed 'He'll warm up to you'. Benny gave me my good night kiss and then started walking home. All I heard was a car pull up and after that the floor came up to meet me.
