ASHER

AUGUST 31ST

I had him. Feeling his flesh bend under the strength of my fists had to be the best feeling in the world. I had taken a chance by inhibiting this body, and I knew that. Even if the Upstairs Police gave me Hell for it, it had been a good decision. I had found Lucifer, as they'd asked me to, and I was now beating the bloody life out of him. I smiled grimly, feeling him cough out some blood. The familiar blood coursing through my veins, the anger reddening my vision- it was good. It was my bag of chips. I smiled again at my little joke, and Lucifer looked at me like I was a madman. He was definitely weaker in this vessel. He'd adapted some of the boy's mindsets as a result of the living vessel. It had to be difficult for him to maintain his thoughts while there was another mind in there, kicking and screaming. I raised my fist to deliver another painful, bone breaking blow when someone's arms wrapped around my torso. I figured it was someone from Upstairs, and I sighed in frustration. The only thing was- they were trying to remove me from Lucifer and failing. This person wasn't strong enough, I realized. It was then that the person shoved their body between me and Lucifer, and I was shoved backwards. Surprised, I looked up, and my heart literally stopped beating.

There stood a tall blond goddess. Her hair shone in long blond ringlets. Her eyes were blue oceans, and her skin was fair. Her body was screaming, and that was an understatement. She wasn't upfront about it, but she didn't hide it very well, either. It was like she knew she had a hot body but she didn't care that anyone saw. Her eyes flickered away from Lucifer, finally landing on Asher. She looked away again quickly. He could feel his heart begin beating three times as fast. What was happening? He wondered quickly. Was she an angel using some kind of feeling alterer? Was that even possible? I realized then that the girl had been yelling things at the both of us, but I had been so spaced I didn't even hear it.

"Stop beating him! You're going to kill him!" the girl screeched. Lucifer smiled a malicious smile that the girl couldn't see. He raked his eyes up and down her body once before looking back at Asher.

"Come at me!" Lucifer yelled tauntingly. Asher felt his anger spike to new levels. How dare he look at an angel like she was some black magic whore?

"I will kill you, Theo!" Asher roared. He had come short of calling him Lucifer. That would be bad in public. He was already on probation, or at least he used to be. Now that he had engaged in a fight with Enemy #1, he would most likely get into all kinds of trouble. But it had been worth it, he reminded himself, squashing his doubts flat.

"No, stop it!" The girl yelled, looking furiously over at Lucifer. She looked as if she were ready to strangle him. Good, Asher thought. Let her be angry at Lucifer. She had every right to be.

"And this building over here is the Athletics building, where we have a swimming pool, a machines room and a climbing room among many others. Students are free to come here at any time during activity periods, or during their own free time," a voice rehearsed. The voice seemed to be coming closer to where they were, around the corner of the building. Asher kicked into action almost instantaneously. He moved forward to grip the flawless girl's hand. He yanked her behind the corner. Lucifer followed suit. She tugged against his hold, a cry rising up in her throat. He sighed condescendingly, snaking one arm around her waist and placing a hand on her mouth. Why was she so difficult? She had to know protocol. It was only as she fought against his hold did he realize she wasn't from upstairs. She was human. He looked down at her, holding her easily against him.

"Stop," he mouthed, but this only made her kick harder. His eyes met hers, and he moved his face close. He couldn't risk speaking too loud at the moment.

"Trust me," he whispered. She seemed to search his eyes for along moment. He prayed that she would understand. He began counting the steady thrum of her heartbeat as he waited. One, two, three, four, five... She finally relaxed and stopped struggling. He didn't move his hands didn't move off of her body, partially because he wanted to make sure she didn't bolt the first chance she got. He also held her because she felt good in his arms. He felt as if he could hold her forever just like this. Like she would never be in danger.
