"To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved."
                                                                                 - George Macdonald

Despair: a word that completely describes Haven's life; the feeling which she had to endure all her life and live up to that. Being taken away from her home, leaving behind the faint memories of her life with her mother and thrown miles away into a never-ending pit of hollowness and sheer torture like a rag doll, made her realize how worthless her life was. Sometimes she asked the stars above, what heinous crime she committed living like this. After running away and encountering the members of the blood moon pack, ignited a hope; a hope for a life she wanted but hearing Eleanor's words, she realized that how wrong she was. Looking down at the visible shreds of broken glass resembling her own squished hopes, she let out a bitter laugh at her cruel fate.

"Oh my sweetheart, we were eagerly waiting for you to arrive, right Devin?"

Eleanor spat the words laced with venom. She again turned to Devin and spoke,

"I mean seriously don't you think Haven darling has got perfect timing to everything that goes around us? Like for example; our neighbor's problems started when she came here; a strange man attacking our Grace and now her listening to our conversation. It's raining coincidences I must tell you."

"So, pray  tell me what do you exactly want in this situation, Eleanor? Maybe I should make a big fuss right now and disturb everyone not to mention even disregard Grace's condition?"

Devin folded his hands and mocked Eleanor.

"Don't forget that I'm your Alpha; I'll decide what to do and don't you dare disrespect me. Am I clear?"

Devin commanded Eleanor in his alpha tone. Meanwhile, Eleanor had no choice but to oblige as her alpha commands her.

"I need a proper answer to what I asked you, AM I CLEAR?"

Eleanor flinched at the harsh tone and finally bowed down,

"Yes, Alpha."

Devin, now fixed his gaze on Haven while saying,

"Leave us alone now."

Eleanor was about to say something, but stopped abruptly when Devin raised his hand,

"Go back to your fucking room Eleanor; I really won't tolerate your bullshit anymore."

Eleanor sighed and retreated to her room with heavy footsteps. Haven's heart was thumping against her chest due to the fear seeping into her bones as well as an unknown feeling budding in by the revelation a few moments ago. Devin's normal brown orbs had turned pitch black raging with a storm beneath. He took few steps closer to Haven who involuntarily took few steps backwards.

"Hello Mate, it is really rejuvenating to finally call you that."

"Loving and cherishing each other till death till part them; a connection of mind, body and souls recognizing each other; a mutual respect and total understanding, a promise to walk side by side through thick and thin and with no room for DECEIT; that really what mates are, aren't they?"

Devin raised an eyebrow while asking her. Haven shuddered at Devin's changed tone while shivering with fear. She lowered her eyes to avoid Devin's heated gaze on her.

"I fantasized about you; our lives together. And then one day, my dream was finally fulfilled; you came to me. I saw our stars aligning and our fates intertwining leading us to the path of completing each other's soul love. You are my other half, whom I'll protect with my life."
