"He was like the sunshine that peeked through her darkness, holding her in his arms, extinguishing her pains away."
-anonymous
The soft rays of sunshine glistened against the windows, illuminating the room.
The air remained quiet, dwelling on the painful memories of the past.
The light falling on Haven's face forced her to open her eyes while she desperately tried to cling onto the last shreds of her memories.
Her mother's livid face was still clearly imprinted in her mind.
Unable to bear the pain anymore, she groaned while opening her eyes.
She was about to stretch but abruptly stopped feeling a heavy arm against her waist, pulling her in.
Fear consumed her heart and, her body froze.
Contemplating for some time, she finally decided to turn to her side and, her eyes found peacefully sleeping Devin beside her.
His relaxed face, long raven hairs falling loosely on his pale skin, brought a small smile on her face.
Seeing him groan, she quickly removed herself from his arm and was about to go out but, Devin's voice stopped her,
"Good morning."
"Umm, Good morning."
Devin sat down while yawning and rubbing his eyes.
"You had a nightmare yesterday. I came here to help you."
Haven's cheeks burned remembering the nightmare and, she lowered her gaze in shame while answering,
"I'm sorry for disturbing you."
Devin stood up and walked to her and spoke in a pacifying tone,
"There's no need to be ashamed of; everyone experiences their ups and downs in their lives."
Haven acknowledged it with a nod but still was uncomfortable.
Devin sighed,
"Freshen up and meet me up downstairs in the kitchen."
With that, Devin left the room leaving, Haven with her conflicts.
After 15 minutes, Haven went to the kitchen to find Devin meticulously preparing something on the stove.
"Oh, you are here. The delicious and mouth-watering Devin's special hot chocolate is ready too. The only thing which I can come up to right now."
Devin carefully poured the hot chocolate into two cups and handed one to Haven.
"Let's go to the garden area."
They both were engrossed in their thoughts while enjoying the beautiful sunrise in front of them.
It was still early in the morning with only the sound of chirping of birds.
Devin scratched the back of his neck while asking
"I hope you like it."
"It's delicious."
Haven replied."Are you adjusting well here?"
"Yes."
"I heard from Eleanor that you were making your breakfast yourself. If you need anything, you can ask the helpers."
