“And… That’s game!” I said as I stood on the three-pointer line, watching the ball float through the air, confident that we would win against the rival team with a buzzer beater.
“Oh god… How are you so good? It was like you knew the ball was going to go in,” Asuha asked, pouting a bit.
“A lot of practice I guess… I can’t let the team down, they trusted me so I have to live up to their expectations. Plus, my mom is a coach, so she began teaching me ever since I was a kid,” I replied.
“Oh back when you were in…” Asuha trailed off.
“Yeah. One of the good memories I have about my past,” I muttered as I sat down on the nearby bench and took a drink of my water. “Let’s have another round and call it a day. I gotta get up early tomorrow.”
“Why? Another date?” Asuha asked as she practiced her shooting form.
“Nope, I gotta work tomorrow. Chiyu called me down to the studio extra early,” I replied as I wiped my sweat off with a towel.
“Damn, must be cool, having a job,” Asuha replied as she mindlessly dribbled the ball a bit.
“Not really, it’s just the same as going to school, but it’s really tiring, having to balance out so many things at the same time…” I sighed as I took another drink of my water.
“I see. Well, good luck for tomorrow. For now, let’s enjoy ourselves~!” Asuha said as she shot the ball.
“Right, let’s go!” I said as I got up from my seat. Just as I was about to ask for the ball, my phone started ringing. “One sec…” I picked up my phone and saw that it was Rokka calling me.
I answered the phone and Rokka greeted me, “Hello (Y/N)! Are you busy?”
“Not at the moment, no. Why?” I said.
“I was wondering if you wanted to hang out after our practice tomorrow...if you’re not too busy of course,” Rokka muttered nervously.
“Oh, I’m actually free after practice tomorrow, so if you want, let’s go!” I replied.
“Yay! Of course! I’ll look forward to tomorrow then~!” Rokka said as she hung up.
“Looks like you got yourself another date~” Asuha teased as she practiced her shooting formation.
“Yeah, I guess, it’s still pretty exciting though!” I said as I walked towards her.
“Pfft, of course, who said dates weren’t exciting? You better not go walking around with an inflated ego just because you’re getting all these dates,” Asuha smirked, eyeing me playfully.
“Oh trust me I won’t. Besides, I kind of feel bad having to do this with multiple girls, since it makes me look like a playboy.” I replied as I stretched a bit.
“Makes you look like a playboy? I’m sorry to say but I think you already are,” she said casually.
“What?” I exclaimed, snapping out of my relaxed state.
“I’m joking, it’s so fun seeing your reaction like that,” she laughed. “ Just have a good time and treat them right, okay?”
“Of course I will,” I grumbled. Sometimes I can’t quite tell if Asuha was joking or not, but that’s besides the point. I’ve got a date tomorrow and I have to prepare for that and my job.
[ Next day, Chiyu’s studio, 07:30 ]
I sleepily dragged my feet into Studio 3 and yawned. It was so early in the morning, yet the recording lights were on, signalling to the outsiders to remain silent.
