The next morning Sigyn woke up to Loki still asleep. The soft light of the morning sun glowing upon his sharp features. His raven hair sprawled upon the pillow in an elegant mess. Without thinking she gently placed her hand upon the side of his face. His eyes snapped open. And yet she didn't move, and neither did he. A small smile graced his lips as he gazed into her eyes. Her thick dark lashes casting a shadow upon her cheeks from the brimming sunlight. Small freckles gracing her skin, the freckles he loved so much. Sigyn started to pull her hand away but Loki gripped her wrist in his hand.
"Please." He begged her softly. He did not want to rush her into anything. But this was not only a difficult transition for her, but for him as well. He had been patient, he had been kind, and he had given her the space she so desperately needed. Sigyn closed her eyes and nodded. A feeling of shock bolted through Loki's chest as Sigyn slid closer to him in their shared bed. She nestled her head on his chest and wrapped her arm around his torso. He stilled. His arms at his sides as she snuggled deeper into him. She breathed in his scent and relaxed. Only then did he circle his arms around her. He buried his face in her hair and took in the smell of roses and mint. The scent of her. Sigyn started playing with the hem of Loki's sleeping shirt with her fingers. Thinking to herself why she waited so long to envelope herself once more into his embrace.
"You needed time." Loki said quietly. Sigyn smiled to herself. She forgot their marriage bond allowed for their thoughts to intermingle on occasion. Although Loki never pried into her mind unless she welcomed him too. "Sorry." Loki mumbled still feeling the softness of her hair on his face. He felt guilt for looking into her thoughts. But in the peaceful moment he forgot to ask permission.
"No, I am sorry." Sigyn said. Loki lifted his head and looked down at his wife. "I have caused you much pain. For that, I am sorry. You do not need to apologize. It is I who wishes to apologize to you." Sigyn continued. Loki shifted her so she was facing him on her side. He lifted the blue pendant that clung to her neck to his eyesight and rubbed the top of it with his thumb.
"We are here now. Let us move forward?" Loki asked not looking away from the pendant.
"I wish he were here." Sigyn said almost too softly for Loki to hear.
"As do I." He replied. And before Loki could move out of Sigyn's embrace to give her the space he now thought she needed she moved over him and leaned down and placed her lips upon his. In his shock he let down his mental barrier, allowing Sigyn to probe his mind. A vision of himself, Sigyn, and Nari plashing in a clear pool of water laughing and playing crossing his mind. The little family enjoying the warm summer season.
Sigyn retracted her lips from Loki's and looked down at her husband. His eyes glazed with tears.
"One day. It won't hurt as much. And we will only think of the happy times without tears to be shed. One day..." Sigyn said wiping the tears away from her husband's cheeks. Loki nodded to his wife. A feeling of pure assurance passed between them.
Before Sigyn and Loki could relish more into their heart felt moment a loud flapping noise occurred and a shadow of a tall figure with wings laid behind their bedroom balcony curtains. Loki groaned and moved Sigyn from his hold. He stood and ran his fingers through his hair. Sigyn got up and snapped her fingers. Her hair now perfectly tangle free and she was now changed into her Asgardian armor. Loki chuckled at her.
"What?" Sigyn asked with a scowl.
"It's just Lucifer." Loki said making a flapping wing motion with his arms.
"Right. I... I knew that. I just... be ready for anything!" Sigyn said with a goofy grin. Her playfulness now showing more than ever. They truly did have a breakthrough. To not have her stand out Loki conjured his armor as well and winked at her. He opened the balcony curtains and there Lucifer stood in a bright red suit and black dress shirt.
"Going to war are we?" Lucifer asked stepping into the couple's bedroom looking them both up and down.
"Are we!?" Sigyn asked way too excitedly and jumped up and down a bit.
"No bloodshed today I am afraid." Lucifer said laughing at her odd excitement.
"Fuck." Sigyn said with a scowl. She waved her hand and her clothing changed from her armor to a simple pair of dark jeans and black t shirt. "I'm going to drink that earthly stuff, coffee. Care for a cup Luci?" Sigyn asked. Lucifer rolled his eyes at the nickname he hated.
"No thank you. I just came to speak with your adorable husband." Lucifer said with a huge smile. Sigyn shrugged then started to make her way out of the room. She then stopped at the door way and peeked her head back into the room seeing that Loki had changed into his usual all black attire instead of armor in a matter of seconds. She raised an eyebrow at them.
"No funny business. Door stays open." Sigyn grinned then left them to it. Loki rubbed his forehead and Lucifer turned fifty shades of pink. The embarrassment setting in deep.
"Well, what bids this unannounced visit? Were we not to meet you at the gallery this afternoon?" Loki asked taking a seat at the foot of his bed. Lucifer stayed standing, pacing a bit.
"Dad. He wishes to speak with you and Sigyn this afternoon. And... after hearing what he wishes to say I thought I had better warn you beforehand." Lucifer said looking around making sure Sigyn wasn't in ear shot. Loki caught on and waved his hand. A light green aura manifested around the room.
"She can't hear. Go on." Loki said. Lucifer sighed.
"It's about..." Lucifer started. But he just couldn't find the words. What was going on with him? Lucifer, without anything to say? Lucifer continued to beat around the bush for another moment or two.
"Spit it out, will you? She will get curious if we don't leave this room soon." Loki said very annoyed.
"It's... well.. it's about your... you know..." Lucifer stuttered again.
"SPIT. IT. OUT." Loki said seething, standing now.
"Your son." Lucifer said. Loki pulled down the green aura and snapped his fingers. Sigyn appeared suddenly next to him in a green flash holding a now very spilled cup of coffee in one hand and a loaf of bread in the other. She looked shocked.
"You could have just called for me. Now I have coffee all over me-" Sigyn started but Loki put a finger to her mouth, shushing her. She was about to protest and start an argument when Loki started speaking.
"Lucifer here seems to think his father wants to speak to us about Nari." Loki said flatly. A look of terror passed Sigyn's expression. She moved her hands and in a yellow flash the coffee and bread were gone. She lunged at Lucifer and slammed him against their bedroom wall.
"Ow." Lucifer said cracking his neck.
"Speak. Or I'll have your tongue!" Sigyn said. Lucifer nodded and Sigyn moved away from him. A crack forming in the wall behind where Lucifer struck it. He straightening out his suit jacket and took a breath in.
"Apparently. According to dear old dad. Nari... is alive." Lucifer said. Loki grabbed Sigyn's hand and squeezed it.
"What type of sick trick is this!?" Loki yelled at his angelic friend.
"I only come with that information. I know nothing more. He wishes to speak with you at the gallery. He wouldn't tell me. He didn't even want me to come to you now. But I felt I had too. My father may be all knowing and well... all annoying to be honest. But he does not lie. At least... not to me. That often... the point is... your son lives." Lucifer said.
"Lies!" Sigyn yelled and started to lung at Lucifer but Loki held her back. Loki put a finger up and turned Sigyn away from Lucifer.
"Let us go speak to Midgard's "God." I will know if the old crank tells us lies or not. Then we can go somewhere. Anywhere you wish. I only want that gleam in your eyes from earlier this day to return to your sight. I only wish to relieve you of this pain." Loki's face was full of sorrow. He truly did only want to heal his hurting wife. He would do anything. Even leave behind the life he built for himself in LA. Sigyn nodded to her husband and placed a small kiss upon his lips. Lucifer's eyes widened. He had not seen them so close in a very long time. It pained his heart, but it also brought him joy knowing Sigyn truly had changed this awakening. Sigyn turned to look at Lucifer.
"To speak to God it is then." Sigyn said.
