It had been weeks since Eve had gone down to Hell with Asmodeus to rule. Lucifer wasn't very happy about the decision after he had some time to think about it but so far nothing crazy had happened yet. No demon invasions and no uprisings. It was quiet. The silence made Lucifer both relieved and concerned about the arrangement but he knew this was the only way he could stay on Earth with Loki and Sigyn.

Lucifer sat on his balcony swirling a glass of two-thousand dollar whiskey. Watching the sun rise the morning chill being a comfort rather than an icy wind due to Los Angelous' warm weather.

"A little early for a nightcap." Amenadiel said softly from behind his bother. He placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled down at him. Lucifer sighed and smiled back. He tilted the remaining liquid from his glass into his mouth and swallowed. He placed the glass down on the table beside him with a clink and shifted in his seat.

"Have a seat then brother. Here for chat?" Lucifer asked Amenadiel. Amenadiel nodded to his bother then took the seat beside him. He crossed his legs and rested his hands upon his knees. His brows knitted together in a confused expression. "Everything alright Amenadiel?" Lucifer asked turning toward him.

"I often don't get involved in your personal affairs. But..." Amenadiel said trailing off at the end.

"But?" Lucifer asked raising an eyebrow.

"Have you considered that meddling in Loki and Sigyn's relationship may cause issues? They are married." Amenadiel said without a beat. He looked away from Lucifer. Lucifer could sense he had wanted to express his feelings on this subject for a while. But why now?

"I am not meddling. I am simply enjoying the fact that I have accumulated two souls to share my bed with. You should be happy for me." Lucifer replied. Amenadiel sighed heavily and rubbed his temples.

"I know you have a history with Jennifer. But Sigyn isn't that woman. And to be honest she never truly was." Amenadiel said. He looked over at Lucifer with cautious eyes. He didn't intend to offend or hurt Lucifer's feelings but he felt he had to tell him what was on his mind. If things went south with this relationship he would never forgive himself if he didn't express his true thoughts.

"I understand what you are saying, brother. But the fact of the matter is that I am in love. Can't you just accept that?" Lucifer asked.

"I would if the person or persons you were so in love with weren't married." Amenadiel said flatly. He saw a twinge of hurt in Lucifer's eyes as he said it. "I'm sorry. But it's how I feel." He added. Lucifer nodded. He looked out as the sun was moving higher into the sky. Was he making a mistake by encouraging this relationship with Loki and Sigyn? Had Lucifer choosing to stay on earth rather than fulfill his obligation to rule Hell from his throne caused more bad than good? These thoughts never really crossed his mind. At least not in a truly thoughtful way. Not in a deep way. "Listen Luci. I know that Sigyn and Loki mean a lot to you but maybe this relationship will cause more harm in the long run. You can't rule Hell from earth forever. And I know, I know that you won't listen to Dad because he's well... Dad. But listen to me. As your brother. And as your friend. Really think about what being in a relationship with both Sigyn and Loki could mean for not just you but for them as well, and the people around you that love you. I know that you have lost a lot. And you have endured a lot of pain. But maybe being selfless this one time would help a lot of people skip a lot of troubles in their lives. Just think about it." Amenadiel said then stood and patted his brother on the shoulder. Lucifer hummed to his brother.

Lucifer sat on his balcony for another hour contemplating what his brother said. Was he being selfish to think he could have it all? The life he wanted on earth, the kingdom of Hell to rule from wherever he wished, and the love of the two beings he so deeply cared for with all his heart. Could he truly obtain all of that and be without fault? Could he have the life he desired without hurting the ones he loved? Lucifer scoffed to himself. He did think he could have it all. But at what cost? Should he consider being selfless? With Chloe it was easy. She was a gift from God. Made for him. And it took him a long time to realize that she wasn't the one for him. It was painful and emotional and it made him vulnerable. Something he rarely allowed himself to be.

With Loki and Sigyn he could be vulnerable. He could be himself. But this wasn't the same as when he was with Chloe. This was different. This was a love that went deep. He made the hard decision before to move forward and away from a relationship. Could he do it again?

"What troubles you my son?" A boastful voice echoed behind Lucifer. Lucifer sighed.

"Hello Father. Come to gloat?" Lucifer asked not turning in his seat. God walked beside him and folded his arms across his chest. He chuckled lightly and then smiled looking at the beautiful view from Lucifer's penthouse.

"Gloat?" God asked.

"Yes, yes. Gloat. About how I am finally considering what you have said for once in my miserable life. That maybe. Just maybe I made the wrong decision in staying here on Earth. For love of all things. Ridiculous." Lucifer said shaking his head with a devastated smile.

"For love. Believe it or not my son I do think that you are capable of making your own decisions. Whether or not I agree is besides the point." God replied still standing above his son.

"And what exactly is your point dear old Dad?" Lucifer asked rolling his eyes.

"My point, Lucifer. Is that to choose love is to choose your greatest joy. But to choose sacrifice for love is to choose other's joy over your own. And while painful a choice that is. It is still the most righteous." God spoke. Lucifer contemplated his father's words.

"And what would you know about righteousness?" Lucifer said and looked up at his father who chucked again. Lucifer crossed his legs and took a deep breath. "Of course. I just want to make the right decision. And for once in my life I feel as though I may have jumped the gun a bit in making the decision to not return to Hell. I don't know why I am telling you all this. Why did you even come here in the first place?" Lucifer said then stood up and looked at his father.

"I felt as though you needed me. I may not have been the best father to you Lucifer but I know when my children are in need. Whatever you decide about Hell or your relationship. Know that it will be because you decided. No one else." God said then pulled his son into a tight embrace. Lucifer stiffened at the touch and his eyes widened. A hug from his father. How rare. Lucifer cleared his throat.

"Well yes. Um. Thank you Dad. I must go and clear my mind. Or fill it with things. Not sure at this very moment but I do have to be going. Nice to see you. Uh. See you at the next family bbq shall I?" Lucifer said untangling himself from his father.

And with that Lucifer walked passed his father and to his elevator. He tapped the button and stepped inside right when the doors opened. God walked over to see his son and nodded to him.  Lucifer straightened his dark blue suit jacket and nodded back to his father. He had made his decision. He just needed a little push from God.

For once.
