"This is INSANE! You can't go back to Hell!" Linda shouted as she threw her hands in the air. Linda, Lucifer, Sigyn, Loki, Maze, and Amenadiel stood in Linda's house as Charlie played in his play pen. Charlie seemingly unbothered by Linda's outburst.
"If it is what father commands then so be it." Amenadiel said placing a hand on Linda's shoulder attempting to calm her rage.
"Oh you blubbering suck up! You always take his side. No matter who get's hurt in the process. Dad is wrong. Just admit it." Lucifer retorted.
"He's right. You do seem to follow whatever your father says." Loki said side eyeing Amenadiel.
"He is God." Amenadiel replied.
"And? If God jumps do you jump too?" Loki asked.
"That's kind of the point." Amenadiel said.
"Oh for the love of Dad! I am not returning to Hell. The demons and Asmodeus will just have to be satisfied with my rule from earth. That is how it has been and that is how it will go." Lucifer said. Sigyn sighed. Was Lucifer really going to defy his father this way? He had defied him countless times in the past. That is specifically how he got to be the ruler of Hell in the first place. But if he didn't return; the repercussions could be devastating to both angel and human alike. Was he really willing to take the risk? Sigyn walked over to Lucifer and placed a gentle hand on his chest.
"Lucifer. I know you despise your father. And I know that in the past it has been as if he hasn't had your best interests at heart. But do you really wish to defy him in this? This doesn't just affect you this time. And I promise I will be by your side no matter what you decide." Sigyn said.
"We both will." Loki said standing beside her now.
"But..." Sigyn looked to Loki who nodded to her with encouragement. "Do you think that leaving Hell unattended. Without your protection I mean. Is the wisest decision? Asmodeus doesn't seem like he will easily give up power." Sigyn continued. Lucifer closed his eyes and pressed his lips together. The frustration evident in his creased forehead.
"I need some time to consider my options." Lucifer said flatly.
"I can accept that." Sigyn said then turned toward everyone else nodding. The group caught what she was doing and they all started humming "yes's" and "absolutely's."
Lucifer pulled Sigyn and Loki into a hug. He buried his face in their shoulders and Loki patted him on the back. The thought of leaving them after they had finally accepted their feelings for each other felt like a sentence to die. If he were to return to Hell he would be leaving them behind as well as his family. And he didn't know for how long. This decision meant a lot of heartache for a lot of people. How could he come to a decision that didn't hurt anyone? He couldn't.
That evening the group was still at Linda's home sitting around her dining room table enjoying a meal. Linda decided making a home cooked meal for everyone might put some of their stress at ease. And watching little Charlie get excited about all the attention he was receiving from everyone made it that much easier to take a breath of relief. Sigyn sat and poked her broccoli with her fork. She had been contemplating Lucifer's upcoming decision. And also worrying about Asmodeus. Where was he? How was he so easily content with Eve sending the demons back to Hell? And did all the demons return? Or just the ones who came to Mischief and Lux? Questions swirled in her mind.
"Everything will work itself out." Loki whispered patting her knee with his hand. She snapped out of her daze and smiled at him softly.
"So. Are we all just going to ignore the elephant in the room? Or?" Linda said looking to each person at the table.
"What elephant?" Loki asked turning in his seat genuinely concerned there was a large animal in Linda's dining room. Linda chuckled then gestured between Loki, Lucifer, and Sigyn.
"What I mean is, what is going on with you three? It's painfully obvious." Linda said taking a bite of her chicken.
"What is?" Sigyn asked pretending to not know what she was talking about. But it made no sense to keep it a secret. Because it wasn't one. Everyone knew. They didn't even try to hide it anymore. Lucifer, Sigyn, and Loki were in love with one another. And people were starting to notice.
"What I do in my bed is my business Ms. Martin." Lucifer said winking at her.
"Well, I am your therapist." Linda retorted.
"Is this a therapy session then? Well well well. What are we charging this evening then? Currency or sex? Hmm?" Lucifer replied. Amenadiel nearly spat out his water.
"Not in front of the child Lucy." Amenadiel said.
"Why? Kid's gotta learn some how." Maze said.
"And who are you to speak on what my child will and not be exposed to? You haven't said a word all day and now you have to express your opinion. How rich." Amenadiel said with malice in his voice. Something he rarely did. He had become more defensive ever sense he and Linda had their baby.
"All I'm sayin is that he's a baby. He doesn't know what sex is. Say whatever you want. Charlie doesn't know the difference." Maze replied.
"He might. He is half angel." Loki said. Maze sent him daggers with her eyes. Loki chuckled to himself.
"We got off topic!" Linda announced. Sigyn took a big bite of her food and choked a bit on it.
"Nervous are we?" Maze asked. Sigyn swallowed.
"No. I just don't think I should be forced to talk about something if I do not wish to." Sigyn replied. The table went quiet for a few minutes. Everyone ate in silence as the air thickened with both curiosity and awkwardness.
"Well I for one think it's splendid." Lucifer said after a long silent pause. He cut into his food and took a bite and smiled while chewing. He swallowed then cleared his throat. "Just splendid." He said and the rest of the meal was eaten in awkward silence.
