Chapter 27 - Beginning Of The End

~ EIGHT MONTHS LATER

The first few days, without my brother's constant shining smile, Jack's sarcastic comments, Luke's presence and (fine) Michael's annoyingly funny attitude, was kinda hard. Alyssa, Maggie, Avalon, Silas and Caspar helped, though. In return, I was as friendly as I could be without being fake and well, I moved on with my life. Not move on move on, but I lived my life. I didn't cry about it every night, because life goes on. It won't sit around and wait until you're done moping, it'll just walk straight ahead of you and you might lose it if you don't follow behind and catch up.

I was dancing and singing along to one of my favorite songs by Fall Out Boy, 'Irresistible', using my brush as a microphone and my bed as the stage.

"Rose, about the-" the door opened.

I screamed and fell off the bed, groaning when my bum hit the floor. I pulled out my earphones and glared at Caspar, who smirked at me. Slowly and painfully, I got to my feet. "Cas, what are you doing here?" I grunted.

"Came over to ask you about the History homework–"

"Napoleon was the French Emperor from 1804 to 1814 and again in 1815. He was also the King of Italy from 1805 to 1814." I explained, stretching out my arms.

"–as a cover because your mom said you were grounded." He finished his sentence, raising his eyebrows at me..

"Oh," I said. "I am grounded. Thank you for reminding me." I rolled my eyes.

"For what?" He deadpanned.

"For sneaking out with Aly and Ava to Canberra for a week." I responded and strode over to my vanity mirror, checking out my newly dyed ombré hair. I used to have light brown hair with natural blonde-ish highlights but it was boring me and my mother declared I couldn't dye my hair a bright color or any color other than brown or blonde, so I did what I could. In Canberra.

"Ohhh. So that's why you disappeared for a week. Avalon told me it was a school field trip and that she only 'tagged along'." He pouted, looking truly disappointed that she lied to him.

I snorted. "School field trip? Please."

"What happened to sweet, kind Rosemary?" Caspar asked out of nowhere.

I grabbed my black rimmed glasses which were sitting on the vanity dresser and wore it. I smiled. "She's right here, Cas. I'm just trying out a new attitude and look. I'm still the same Rose. Jack just rubbed off on me a bit, that's all." I shrugged and took the glasses off.

He eyed my black combat boots, dark blue skinny jeans, black slim leather jacket, black nail polish and white Green Day shirt. "Yeah. A bit." He mimicked.

I grabbed my phone, which was laying on the bed, unplugged the earphones from it and shoved it in my front pocket.

"Where are you going?" Caspar asked, furrowing his eyebrows.

I jogged up to my window, unlatched it and slid it open. I glanced back at him. "Out, obviously." I smirked, about to climb down the ivy when he caught my attention again.

"With who?"

"Alyssa and Silas. Don't worry, I'll be fine." I winked and turned my attention back on the window. My eyes locked on the bedroom window opposite mine and I faltered.

"He won't like this," Cas commented, knowingly.

"He's not here right now. Besides, he won't know." I responded, diverted my eyes from the window and continued to climb down.
