Chapter 36 - Unexpected

Normally, I don't go to parties, and for good reason. When I go to parties, things tend to occur. It's either, (a) I get really wasted, (b) I pass out or (c) I get really hungry and raid the kitchen. 'C' was in action now.

"I am really hungry," Jack stated as he searched Aria's cupboards. "And she has no instant-pizza flour." He pouted.

I giggled. "Silly! That doesn't exist!" I laughed, propping myself up on the kitchen island

Jack turned to me, eyes wide. "What?"

"Instant-pizza flour doesn't exist." I repeated.

Jack shook his head. "Unbelievable. I need to invent that." He said seriously.

"Yes, you do." I leaned against the pole thing. It was a column that connected the kitchen island to the ceiling. I squeezed my eyes close and scrunched my nose up.

My head was thumping. I shouldn't have drank that last cup of beer, gods. I'm not legally allowed to drink yet, damn it. Mom is gonna kill me if she finds out about this.

Then, suddenly, my coherent thoughts turned quite slurry and well, incoherent. I giggled out of nowhere and opened my eyes.

Jack was kneeling on the floor, a serious expression on his face. He grasped my hand, still serious but a noticeable smile crossed his face quickly. "Will you marry m-" Jack suddenly slipped over absolutely nothing and fell to the kitchen floor, bringing me down with him.

"Whoa!" I yelped as I crashed to the floor with him. I landed beside Jack with a thump and groaned.

At first, we laid there, groaning in pain, until both of us burst into fits of drunken laughter.

Somewhere during our laughing fest, Aria ran into the kitchen, eyes wide. "What happened?" She asked, confused.

Jack tried to explain, "I-I tried to propose to her and," He laughed again. "I fell and pulled her along with me and-" More laughter.

"HERE WE ARE!" I shouted, laughing harder.

Jack nodded and laughed to back up my statement. We rolled around the floor, giggling like gerbils. Not sure if gerbils even giggle but that's the first thing I thought of.

Aria rolled her eyes. "You guys are so drunk."

"Yep!" I exclaimed.

She rolled her eyes again and handed me a white rectangular thing.

"What's this?" I asked, giggling as I took it from her.

Aria raised an eyebrow. "It's your phone, dumbass."

"Oh," I chuckled. "Why are you giving me my phone?"

"Your mom called."

"W-What?" That was enough to get my sober-self to come crawling back.

"You should call her back." She said and walked away.

"Oh, you're gonna get busted," Jack smirked as he leaned against the kitchen cupboards, still on the floor.

"Shut up." I muttered, my giddiness gone. I tapped on my mom's number.

She answered on the second ring.

"Hey, mo-"

'Rose! Who answered the phone earlier?' She shrieked, obviously worried.

"What?" I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion and concentration. I was trying hard not to slur my words. "W-What are you talking about?"
