Chapter 16 - Four

Four days.

In four days, my brother, the guy I like, the confusing Smurf dude and the nice kiwi boy called Calum are going on tour for who knows how long (nine months but I don't like saying that because it sounds really long when it's supposed to pass by in a flash). Luke promised to make these last few days the best days of our lives, I told him it wasn't necessary, that just being with him was enough for me, but he insisted. So here I am, in my room, waiting for him to finish planning something with Ashton.

While waiting, I decided to start reading a book I bought in NY a long time ago, The Giver. I watched the movie and I think the book would be even better, because books are almost always better than the movie.

On around page six, there was a rapping on my door. "Come in!" I called.

Luke revealed himself, his quiff . . . Not exactly a quiff anymore. I mean it was swept to the side. It was different, but in a good way. Truthfully, it looked adorable on him.

"Ready?" He asked, a grin on his face.

"Hell yeah." I smiled and hopped off my bed.

Luke offered his arm, I took it and we proceeded downstairs, where Ashton and my mother was waiting.

"Hey, mom. Where were you?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow in suspicion.

"Oh, I was just exploring Sydney with some of my old friends," She smiled back, then frowned. "Sweetie, did you change your clothes when you got home from school?"

I looked down at my dark blue skinny jeans, white All Time Low band shirt and white sneakers. "Of course I changed. Why?" I glanced back at her.

Mom shrugged. "You seem to wear the same clothes everyday."

I gasped dramatically. "I do not! I just have a simple taste in clothing." I crossed my arms.

"I love your taste in clothes, Rosa." Luke whispered in my ear, sending chills down my spine as he slipped his arm around my waist.

I blushed crimson. "Uh-um. See you later, guys. Say bye to Jack and whoever might still be in our house, for me!" I told them as Luke and I walked to the door.

"Yeah, yeah. Will do." Ashton answered.

"Luke, where are we going?" I asked once we stepped outside.

He smiled, his blue eyes sparkling. "It's a surprise." With that said, Luke left me standing on the porch, scared and excited by his words.

.

.

"I used to like surprises, but now I don't." I whined, crossing my arms, childishly. We have been driving for a while now and Luke refused to tell me any hints or anything about our trip.

"Don't worry, Rosa, you'll love this." He smirked, sparing a brief glance at me.

I fiddled with my fingers. "I don't know, Luke. If we're going to get stranded again-"

He groaned. "Are you ever gonna let that go?"

I smirked at him. "Never, Lucas." I poked his cheek.

Luke finally pulled the car to a stop. "I swear, you'll love this." He grinned and got out of the car.

Before I could open the door on my side, Luke opened it for me, gesturing for me to get out. I did, watching as he ran to the back of the car and pulled the trunk open.

Diverting my eyes from him, I stared up at the sky. It was about 6 pm by now but the stars were already out and bright. I have never seen these many stars in New York . . . The buildings usually blocked the view and the smoke clouded most of them. "They're beautiful." I whispered in awe.
