The next morning I wake up before Carter. I enter his room to check on him and he is slowly waking up. I go ahead and get his outfit out for the day. That consisted of an onesie with a mustache on it.

"Good morning my little munchkin! Awe, look at you hair." He raised his arms up and placed his hands on his head. He had a huge smile on his face. That little smile makes my heart melt every time. "Come on. We have a big day ahead of us." I reached down and picked him up. Carrying him over to his changing table, I changed his diaper and put his onesie on. Picking him back up, I head down stairs.

"Are you hungry," I say as I tickle his stomach. Once in the kitchen I put him in his monkey highchair. I quickly made him some eggs and placed them on a plate. I also grab some yogurt for the both of us. Every time he would take a bite, I would take a bite of yogurt. I kept repeating this process over and over again till we were both finished.

I managed to not get him messy. That helped me a lot so I didn't have to worry about giving him two baths. I picked him up and carried him to the living room. I gently place him in his playpen and made my way to the couch.

I flipped on the TV and got on Netflix. I began watching Pretty Little Liars last month but never had time to watch it. Just as I was about to start season two, my phone rang.

"Hello," I answered.

"Hey I am so sorry about last night. Please forgive me. I ended up not going. I know how much Carter means to you. Please forgive me!" I rolled my eyes.

"Kayla, I am not mad at you. You are my best friend, I can never stay mad at you. Plus I was already tired and I knew I wouldn't be able to go for that reason. I had to move furniture."

"Woah! Why did you have to move furniture?" Asked Kayla.

"New neighbors," I replied.

"Oh, well I will be over tonight. I am not staying home again tonight. Mom and dad got in another fight. I can't handle it." She choked a little at the end.

Kayla parents aren't the best. Her dad blames her for every little thing. Her mom doesn't care what she does. She doesn't even care about Kayla. They have both abused her many times. To get away from it all, Kayla comes over to my house. It helps her a lot.

"Yeah that is fine. Just one thing. The new neighbors are coming over for dinner. Please don't mess anything up. You could help me by watching Carter as I cook."

"Yeah that is fine by me. I haven't seen that little booger in a while. I have missed him. Okay, well I am gonna go. I need to get my bags together and I will be over there. Bye."

"Bye. See ya in a bit!" And with that we hung up.

About thirty minutes later the door opens up and Kayla comes and pick Carter up. I am still watching my show so I don't pay any attention to them.

"Are you going to start dinner soon?" I looked over at Kayla, confused.

"It is almost five." She said.

"Oh my gosh! Yeah I need to start cooking. Why aren't my parents back yet? Oh well, I don't have time for that right now!" I quickly jumped up and ran to the kitchen.

I don't know if they are vegetarians or not so I will make both. I thought to myself. I made some veggie burgers and I also made my secret recipe of hamburgers. I was planning to make my shipwreck casserole but that takes a few hours to bake. I will make it next time.

As I was finishing up, both my parents enter the house. They didn't say anything to either one of us as they headed upstairs.

I walked into the living room to pick Carter up. I was gonna go get him changed but I see that Kayla already beat me to it. I still haven't got ready so I handed Carter to Kayla and made my way to my room.
