The next morning I took the other two and they both came out with the same results. I called my doctor and made an appointment. The soonest they could get me in was a month. So here I am, a month after I took the pregnancy test going to see my doctor.
"Miss. Lain." the nurse called my name. I took a deep breath and grabbed my bag, following her into the exam room. "How are you doing today?" she asked.
"Nervous, terrified, every emotion that could describe this." I told her truthfully as I sat on the table. My leg was shaking uncontrollably. I couldn't help it. This will change my life. This is going to confirm that I am pregnant.
"Okay well all we are going to do is do an ultrasound, see how far along you are, and ask you some routine questions. So there isn't anything to be worried about here."
"Okay," is all I could say.
"How is Carter doing?" The nurse asked as the doctor walked in.
"He is doing good. Getting big! He will be one in four days."
"Oh wow! You will have to get you parents to make him an appointment soon." The nurse said.
"Oh my parents aren't really around. They travel for work a lot. Right now they are in Paris. I take care of both myself and Carter."
"And she does a dang good job at it too!" Dr. Linda said. "She has magnificent grades too. I am a little disappointed to see you in here for this reason." She pointed toward me. I saw that coming.
"I didn't mean for it to happen. I didn't even know it happened till the next morning. It was forced, I do know that much. But this was an accident." I told her truthfully.
"You know the options right?" She asked.
"Of course I do. And heck no if you think I am going to get an abortion! That is killing a poor, innocent child. I am not doing that!"
"Well, what about adoption?" She asked.
"I haven't thought about it. I just knew I need to get an appointment as soon as possible and here I am." That is definitely an option. I don't know if I could take care of a baby. I know I have done it before but if I did it again, that would mean I would have a toddler and a newborn. Plus school. I don't think I could do that.
"Well, you still have some time. As I can tell here you are only six weeks and three days. Just think carefully about it and do what's best. I know you will but still."
I wiped the gel off my stomach. "Yes mam, I know. It's a hard decision to make."
"Does the father know?" She asked.
"No, I wanted to be sure and he is this huge popular jock. There is no telling what is going to happen."
"Just take a deep breath and go for it. It's better to get it over with now than later." She told me as she gave my knee a squeeze.
"You know what, your right. I just have to have a positive attitude about this about I can get through it. Thank you Dr. Linda, it really helped."
"No problem baby girl. Now I will see you back in a few weeks. You can make Carter's appointment then too so you don't have extra running to do."
"Okay that sounds good. Have a good day." I gave her a quick hug.
"You too. Oh and don't forget to take your vitamins!"
"Yes mam, I won't" I then left the office. It was only 10:07am so I decided to head to school. I texted Mrs. Adams letting her know that arrived and I was heading to class.
She sent a message back saying, Okay and that Carter was playing with some toys.
"Where were you?" Chase bombarded me with questions as soon as I walked into 4th period.
"I had to go to the doctors. I will tell yall at lunch. It's actually really important." I told him.
"Then tell me now!" He said in a 'duh' tone.
"No! I have to tell yall together." I snapped at him.
"Dang girl you've been moody lately. Its like you got someone else controlling you." I slouched down in my seat and Chase's face went soft. "Adriana, are you? Please tell me, I won't be mad, I promise." I just laid my head down. "Oh Adriana." Chase wrapped his arms around me. "It will be okay, I promise." I looked around the room. Sam wasn't in there.
"Where is Sam?" I asked Chase.
"He asked the teacher if he could go to the bathroom before you walked in." I just nodded my head.
A few minutes later the door opened up and in came Sam. Chase and I weren't hugging anymore.
"There you are, where were you?" He asked."
"I will tell yall at lunch." Sam looked over to Chase. Chase just shrugged his shoulders like he didn't know. This is why I love my friends.
Lunch time came slowly. I was terrified to tell Sam and Kayla. There is no telling what they will say or do.
I sat down at the table and the gathered around me.
"Okay so what's up?" Asked Sam.
"Wait, what's going on?" Kayla asked.
"You know how she wasn't here this morning. Well, she is about to tell us why." Chase caught Kayla up.
"Okay I don't know how to tell yall this, so I am just going to come out and tell yall the story. Umm, well I had a doctors appointment this morning because I took four pregnancy test last month and they were all positive. I got there and they did an ultrasound and I am six weeks and three days." I took a deep breath looking at the table.
Sam was the first to say something. And he SNAPPED! "WHO? Who is this dude that got you pregnant? How could he? I want to have a word with him. Who is he Adriana?"
I looked at Kayla. She just sat there frozen still.
"Kayla, please say something."
"Who?" Is the only word that left her mouth as she sat there and looked at her tray.
"I want to know the same thing Adriana, who?" Chase said.
