Lucifer x Reader

// I'm sorry it's a little on the short side!

"Ugh, screw this crap." A flurry of papers floated to the floor in time with the infuriated groan that slipped from your lips; standing up from your seat you decided that all this work was useless. A dry laugh made you turn in surprise, you weren't aware of another presence in the room until now. "Having difficulties?" Lucifer's voice dripped mirth, eyes scanning over your form which was scooping up the fallen documents. "Shut up. I'm not in the mood." You spat the words with a certain fire, aimed directly at him. Lucifer had known that you always struggled with research but never seemed to help. He just stood in the corner and laughed as you got more frustrated. "Oh, I can tell you're going to be a bundle of laughs tonight Y/N."
A slightly awkward hush filled the study which was broken by Lucifer clearing his throat loudly. "Why don't you come with me and I'll help you loosen up a bit Y/N. Looks like you need it." He no longer looked smug, it was replaced with only sympathy. You heaved a sigh and nodded, he was right.

An orange flickering light caught your attention as you followed Lucifer into the living room; it seemed to dance in different directions, changing colour from orange to yellow and back again. He had lit the fire. "Nice touch Luci." You mumbled your gratitude, hours slaving away in the frigid air of the study had not done you any favours. A warm hand slipped around your waist, ruffling up your t-shirt, you hummed in approval at the welcome heat on your skin. "Anything to make you less grumpy. You really are terrifying when you're angry, have I ever told you that?" Lucifer snickered lightly, pulling your frame tighter against his. "I believe you may have mentioned it once or twice." You replied with some lightheartedness. Being in Lucifer's company was improving your mood steadily, however your mind kept drifting back to all the tasks you had yet to complete. "If you're feeling that down we can go and torture some demons?" You slapped his chest in mock horror, "Luci! Don't be so..." You struggled for words, laughter threatening to rise up your throat. "Devilish?" He suggested, releasing his grasp on your waist a little. You nodded in agreement, "Exactly."

With that idea disposed of, you and Lucifer snuggled up on the large sofa in front of the fire. When Lucifer thought you weren't looking his way, he had a habit of staring with adoration at you. Of course you could see him gazing at you, but you never stopped him. The way his eyes seemed to grow in size as he examined your features made your chest tighten. You never wanted to be without him. Anyone who had this effect on you just by casting their eyes over you must be something special, and he was. Lucifer was also fiercely protective of you, and never took any notice when you insisted you could fight your own battles.

Sam and Dean had no idea about your relationship, and them finding out anytime soon was not something you liked to think about. They would certainly not approve, and a part of you couldn't really blame them. Lucifer, as tough and malicious as he came across was nothing like that around you. He tried to control his anger, and insisted just the sight of you was enough to calm him.

The small flames of the fire were still fluttering desperately as you and Lucifer made your way upstairs. Conversation had been virtually non-existent; apart from the occasional comment about Lucifer's eyes looking a little creepy with the flames reflected in them. Just having time together like this was enough.

You climbed wearily into your side of the bed, releasing a breath of relief you turned to face your equal next to you. His voice was soft as silk as he reached out to take your hand in his, "I will never tire of seeing your face Y/N. Goodnight my darling."
