Hearing the deafeningly loud music pulsing through the venue, you and Castiel knew this was the right place. Taking out both of your fake ID's, you looked over at Castiel who had worry etched all over his face. "Cas, don't worry it's going to be fine. We have to do this to help Sam and Dean."
The car journey to the stately manor had been a tense one; you and the Winchester's knew Castiel was not too comfortable in social situations like this, but there was no other way to get information for the hunt.
The doorman coughed a bit too loudly, making lift your head quickly up in surprise. Putting on your best posh accent you handed over your ID. "I am Amara Scott, and this is my husband William. We're here for the annual ball." With a curt nod of approval the man stood aside to let you and Cas inside. "That's the easy bit done." You murmured under your breath, taking Castiel's arm for support more than anything.
The hall was crammed with people; and as your eyes scanned the area, a tall willowy blonde in a shimmering floor length dress sent a flash of pearl white teeth your way, then continued to sip from her wine glass. You couldn't help but scowl as you realised the smile had been directed at Castiel. He did look exceedingly good tonight, that was something you had to admit. Still, there was no way you were letting any other women near him. It was obvious that would not end well.
"Cas, why don't we go and get a drink?" Your squeezed his arm reassuringly and could see him gulp anxiously as he nodded at your proposition.
As the night wore on, you had talked to as many people of interest as possible. Sam and Dean needed information about the owner of the hall, they said it was essential to the hunt for you and Castiel to find out who it was.
The blonde from earlier had been eyeing Castiel all evening, luckily he had not noticed a thing. "Cas, uh..." Cas stopped fiddling with his bow-tie and fixed his bright eyed gaze on you. "What is it Y/N?"
"Would you like to dance?"
"I don't know how..." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, gaze now directed at the floor. "Well, me either. C'mon, or I swear that woman over there will eat you alive." Castiel's eyes snapped up from the floor, "Eat me?" You couldn't help the small giggle that escaped your lips at his terrified expression. "Not literally, you silly angel." Shaking your head you took his hand loosely in yours and led him to the dance floor.Once you had managed to drag Castiel after you, you turned to face him expectantly. He shifted on the heels of his shoes and avoided any eye contact with you. Tutting quietly you gently placed one of his hands on your waist. Castiel moved a little closer towards you, allowing you to wrap your hands lightly around your neck. His whole body tensed at the sensation of your touch, "Cas?" Your question seemed to rouse him from his frozen state and he nodded at you, indicating that this was okay. Slowly, you both began to sway to the music which was a lot quieter than earlier in the evening. A multitude of couples surrounded you and Castiel. All of them were pressed chest to chest, with eyes closed and hands intertwined.
Castiel now looked straight at you, his bright azure eyes boring into you. Instead of making you uncomfortable, his piercing eyes sent an involuntary shiver of something new through your body. No one had ever looked at you like this before. His face was now mere inches from yours, his steady exhales of breath grazing your cheeks. "I think I like dancing Y/N."
The air felt like it was being squeezed from your lungs as you nodded dumbly back at him. "Me too Cas." A shy smile broke out over his sincere countenance. "The music has stopped... But I don't really want this feeling to."
