Human!Cas x Reader

/ I apologise this is so lame ah man

In hindsight, maybe laying on your bed in just your underwear and a baggy band t-shirt was not one of your smartest ideas, especially when you were expecting a new room mate any second.

A loud knock on your door made you jump up, nearly spilling a glass of water onto the side table, luckily you caught it just in time. Great. Just great, you were about to meet the person you'd be sharing your room with for the rest of the year in your scruffy clothes and with a bare face. "Well done Y/N." You muttered under your breath, opening the door and looking up at the person stood in the doorway. "Uh. Hey, I'm Castiel, but my friends call me Cas... Nice to meet you, er Y/N isn't it?" His voice was soft and friendly, but you flushed red with embarrassment as his eyes scanned you. "Y- yeah. Come in." You stepped aside awkwardly and he walked inside. Castiel was quite a bit taller than you, he had a mess of tangled black hair and striking blue eyes that one only reads about in fairy-tales.

"You keep this place really tidy, not like my last room mate, I like it."

"Wh- oh thank you..." You bit down hard on your bottom lip, stopping yourself from rambling, which was something you always did when you were nervous.

After you had helped Cas with his books and luggage, you made coffee and he told you about where he used to live and why he decided to move. Overall, he seemed like someone you could get along with relatively easily and you'd be be a filthy liar if you said you didn't find him attractive. He thanked you for the coffee and walked off into his bedroom, saying he ought really to unpack his stuff, or it'd never get done.

A few hours passed before you got restless, slipping on some jeans you grabbed your phone and some earphones, scribbling a note about going to meet friends and leaving it on the fridge. Cas didn't need to know that in reality, you tried to avoid human contact as much as possible, 'meeting friends' was your language for going to the library and completely absorbing yourself in fictional worlds and creations.

Luckily, the library was almost deserted apart from some small children reading pop-up books on the bean bags. The corner you always sat in was empty so you grabbed a book from the shelf, sinking into the red velvet chair, putting your headphones in and sighing in content.

You had been sat, glued to your book for at least an hour before you felt someone's presence beside the chair.

"Y/N?"

Crap. It was Castiel.

You looked up from your book, a shy smile making it's way onto your face. "Uh huh? Oh hey."

Cas let out an awkward cough, "Meeting friends?"

You couldn't help but blush scarlet, biting your lip and nodding. "I thought it would be a bit less lame if you thought I was..."

Castiel sat next to you, and you noticed he also had a book in his grasp. "There's nothing 'lame' about going to the library Y/N..." He trailed off, and you glanced up at him, Cas was just sat there smiling at you.

"Do you want to-" he scratched the back of his head, averting his eyes, "want to... Grab a coffee sometime?"

Your heart leapt in your chest and you nodded, a real smile bracing your lips.

You gathered up your things, placing the book back on the shelf and turned back to face him.

"Okay?"

"Okay."
