"Y/N? It's time to leave, get your butt out here." Dean was knocking on your motel bedroom door in an annoying rhythmic fashion as you jumped around inside trying to get your shoes on that were stubbornly refusing to cooperate. "Give me a minute! God damn shoes." You hollered back, finally managing to shove the other shoe onto your foot with considerable force.
You had been hunting with the Winchesters for several years and knew them both pretty well, sure you all had your secrets but that was expected. It was safe to say that you three trusted each other completely. They were like family to you and whenever the occasion arose you would defend them, whether that be against whatever you were hunting or just some sneering passer by.
Once you had emerged out of the rundown motel and into the parking lot you saw Sam and Dean hunched over a map on the boot of the impala. "What's up boys?" You shot them a smile and dumped your bags on the back seat of the car. "While you were taking forever in your room getting ready me and Sam think we may have got a hunt."
"Yeah, it looks like some sort of ghost gone psycho." Sam chimed in, rolling up the map and handing it to Dean. You nodded, "Well, let's hit the road then huh."Once you reached the house of the supposed crazy ghost on the outskirts of Los Angeles you all hopped out of the impala, Dean heading to the boot to get the salt and other essentials. Sam turned to you and opened his mouth to speak, but you already knew what was coming it was the usual 'Be careful and don't die' speech.
Entering the house had been the easy bit, as the occupants had seemingly fled a few days ago, saying they were 'going to visit family'. Yeah, with the entire contents of the house in the boot? Doubtful.
Once you had settled yourself in the living room on an old leather chair, and drawn a line of salt around yourself, you decided to wait for Sam and Dean's signal. Suddenly, without warning the radio to the left of you flicked on and starting blaring white noise, you reached to turn the damn thing off but no luck. As soon as the white noise had begun, it stopped and you breathed a sigh of relief. That was until the first few chords of 'Heat of the Moment' started up instead. You sat staring at the radio in bemusement, "Asia? Huh..."
Sam appeared in the entrance of the room you were crouched in, lifting a palm to his temple and shaking his head lightly, "S'alright Y/N you can get up. Turns out it's not a ghost. It's just Gabriel." You were just about to ask who the hell that was but before you could, a man suddenly appeared beside you bearing a smug grin. "Oops. You found me." He shrugged in mock defeat, and offered you a hand to help you up. "Gabriel get away from Y/N." Dean's voice came from across the room, his tone far from friendly. "Psh, I'm only being a gentleman. Keep your panties on Dean." By this time you had grabbed Gabriel's hand and pulled yourself up, immediately distancing yourself from him and heading towards the Winchesters. "Was this whole elaborate charade just to get us here?" Sam asked, confusion evident in his question. Gabriel nodded, popping a lolly into his mouth and smirking in your direction. Unfortunately Dean saw and heaved a frustrated sigh, "Stop undressing Y/N with your eyes you son of a bitch."
Gabriel seemed to find the whole affair somewhat amusing and winked at you. "Maybe later huh Y/N." You folded your arms defiantly and wandered how the hell someone could be so vulgar.Sam and Dean got so fed up with Gabriel's obvious interest in you that they made you leave the house and sit in the impala. Part of you was glad because man it was getting unbelievably awkward in there, they were so overprotective sometimes, it wasn't like you couldn't handle yourself.
When they finally returned to the car and started to drive to the nearest diner you had hundreds of questions ready to ask, "So, who's Gabriel?"
"Archangel." Dean muttered, putting the Back in Black cassette into the player. "Good or bad?"
"He's alright, saved our asses once got to give him that." Sam replied, tapping his fingers on the window in time to the music. "He seemed very, er laid back for an archangel. Okay scratch that he was just plain rude." You threw your hands in the air in exasperation and let out a strained laugh. "Don't you dare get involved with him Y/N, he's not safe. Angels are dicks no one knows that more than us. Alright?" Dean huffed, his voice a little louder than normal.
"Yeah, okay. MOM." You teased, provoking a small chuckle from Sam.Stopping off at another roadside motel called 'Pine Crest Lodge' you all unfortunately had to share a room, because of how late you had turned up. "I'll take the sofa," Dean said, "We have another hunt tomorrow and need our sleep." Sam opened his mouth to argue but Dean shook his head, "Dude, you're not going to fit on this anyway." He gestured to the small settee beside him, his signature smirk settling on his features.
"What did Gabriel want? Why did he drag us to that house? Bit stupid if he did it without a reason." You voiced your thoughts into the silence of the room. "Said he was trying to protect us from a dangerous hunt. Didn't want us to go." Sam mumbled in response.
"Gabriel was probably just messing with us as usual. Don't worry about it Y/N. We're not going to listen to some jacked up archangel. Now c'mon let's sleep."The hunt seemed relatively simple, go gank the four vamps inside the warehouse, rescue the hostages and then take them to hospital. None of you expected the vampires to be armed so well...
When the first shot fired you looked up in bewilderment from the wooden casket you were knelt beside, "A gun? I didn't know Dean had a gun with him..." Sam glanced over at you then towards the vamps then back again. "Crap. Dean doesn't. They must have stolen it from one of the hostages. This just got a whole lot more tricky."
It wasn't the Winchesters fault, how could they have been aware that there was an extra vampire hiding at the sidelines. Truth is, they didn't even notice when the shot rang out. It was only when you let out a barely audible groan of pain and staggered towards them that they turned abruptly from finishing the last vamp off. "Oh shit. Y/N what happened?" Dean ran towards you, grimacing at the amount of blood covering your hands. The bullet had got you straight in the stomach. "Extra vamp," you managed to wheeze, "got away the sneaky son of a bitch." Sam lifted you up bridal style, murmuring softly that they were gonna get you to the nearest hospital. The sound of someone else entering the room made the group turn towards the noise. It was Gabriel.
"I knew you wouldn't listen, you stubborn-" Sam cut him off with a desperate plea, "Gabriel please can you heal Y/N... I don't think she's going to make it to hospital." You peered over at the form of Gabriel who was making his way over to you, "Ah, guessing that's not ketchup?" Dean shot him a death glare and Gabriel slowly reached out to touch your forehead, "Now this won't hurt a bit, just relax Y/N." You felt a warm, tingling sensation throughout your whole body, the pain in your abdomen subsided and you hopped less than gracefully out of Sam's arms, almost into Gabriel's. "Thanks." Sam and Dean said in gruff unison, almost begrudgingly. They both turned to head out of the building back to the impala outside, leaving you and Gabriel alone. "I guess we owe you an apology." You looked down awkwardly at your blood stained boots and then dared a glance back up at Gabriel. He was stood surveying you with a kind look lacing his hazel eyes. "I knew you all wouldn't listen, that's just how you hunters are. You're just lucky I got here in the nick of time."
"Thanks Gabriel. I mean you kind of saved my life so... thank you."
Gabriel reached into his pocket and handed you a small bubblegum pink lolly, you smiled and took it, unwrapping it and popping it into your mouth. A comfortable stillness had descended on you both until you coughed loudly clearing it, "I better go. They'll go crazy if I don't."
"It was nice meeting you Y/N. Just please don't get yourself killed while I'm not around to save you." You batted his arm playfully and bit your lip, still stumped as to how you were ever going to repay him for saving your life. You moved closer to him and wrapped your arms around his torso in a warm embrace, quietly relieved when he reciprocated the hug and placed a chaste kiss to your cheek. When you finally pulled apart your cheeks were now burning red and you cursed yourself for being so easily embarrassed. "G'bye Gabe!" You shouted as you walked away from where he stood. You turned to add something else, but stopped yourself when you realised now the warehouse had no one in it but you. There was no doubt in your mind that Gabriel was someone special, it was as if you had instantly felt some sort of connection however freaking cheesy that sounds... Maybe it was even love, anyhow you just hoped you would see a lot more of him.
