Keira's POV
"Slow down on the ice cream sweetie." I kissed the top of his head. I love this boy very much. He looked up his green eyes bright with happiness. "Leave some room for dinner."

Nick dropped him over on his way to talk to Katya. She is freaking out about her father and she wants to leave. I can't believe I'll be losing her again. She's my closest friend. If she wants to live Terrence with us I'll do my best to take care of him as though he came from my very own womb. "I like this ice cream."

"This is Nick's ice cream." I took the container when I saw how familiar it is. His mom sends him this particular brand all the way from Florence. She sends a carton full of them every other week. My husband is not a sweet tooth but he loves his gelato. Even his children aren't allowed to have it. He will have a meltdown. "Oh sweetie. Why did you pick this one?"

"It's Italian gelato." He smiled so innocently. "That's good stuff."

"It's Nick's giod stuff." I sighed. "Let's mix some ice cream in there."

"Won't he know?"

"I'll just tell him it's a bad batch. I don't want him to get upset with you." I put the ice cream back in the furthest end of the freezer and i stacked some other things in front. Hopefully he will forget. But he does forget. He has a sharp memory like an elephant.

"Can I live here?" Terrence asked me out of the blue as I checked on the chickens in the oven. "If it's not too much to ask. I'll help Lupe with the chores. I'll help the your kids with their homework. I'll help you cook. I'll do anything." He got off the stool and run to me. He held onto me tightly. "Please don't let my mom take me."

I held him rubbing gentle circles around his back. Marcelle walked by and he stopped to watch. He's definitely jealous. He decided he will use the skateboard in hand to skate on my polished wood floors. Seconds later something broke and a door slammed. He's pissed. If Terrence lives here we will have a problem.

"Your mom won't take you because she's not leaving. And if she does, I promise that I'll make sure you stay. Alright?" I looked into the sad hazel eyes.

"Alright."

I glanced at my phone. It's ringing. "Hello!" I sang. "Are you coming for dinner?"

"I can't make it." Ferrer responded. "Is Terrence with you? I know he is always at your house."

"Yes he is."

"Can he come over? I have something to say to him and Nick told me not to leave the house."

"Is it important?" Nick told me not to let him out of my sight.

"It's about my relationship with him. It's important."

"We will be by shortly."

Ferrer's POV
"So you have son?" Larysa asked me after I hanged up the phone.

"Yes. He's eleven. We have a rocky almost nonexistent relationship."

"Fathers never good with sons. They fight with sons. Sons love mother and daughters love father." She laughed. "Life works that way."

She was outside the hospital when I was leaving and she asked if we could hang out. I invited her over. She's good company. At least I'm not alone with my thoughts.

"I can agree with the part about sons. I have a nonexistent relationship with my dad." He is still sending me letters that I don't open. "Do you get along with your dad?"

She sat on my lap, straddling me. I'm not in the mood for it. I should tell her. I got up instead. "What's wrong?" She cupped my face. "Is it me? Should I go? You are not okay today."
