Ferrer's POV
For the strangest reason, I can't stop smiling when I look at my palm. I can still feel the fleeting softness of her lips. I can't wait for the next boo-boo moment.

I approached the reception desk outside my office. "You paged me."

"You have a patient." She looks strange.

"It's my day off."

"He insisted."

"It's my day off." I repeated. I never get a day off because I end up at the hospital somehow. There's no point in arguing with Janet. I left her to see the patient waiting for me in the office.

When I entered, I realized why she let them in and she called me on my day off. One if them locked the door. He has a mean look in his blue eyes.

"What is this?" I counted six men scattered in my office. Some of them are going through my files. "Stop that! Those are private."

"Doctor-patient confidentiality." A man in my seat spoke in a thick Russian accent. He slowly span his way around to face me. I felt cold all over especially when his blue eyes engaged with mine. "It's a pillar in practicing medicine, isn't it?"

"Who are you?"

"How rude!" He stood up. He is in a sharp black suit with a black polo neck. It's not even cold outside. He stretched his hand. "Leonid Romanov."

I shook his hand. "Ferrer Cavaleiro."

"It's a pleasure to meet a man with a bright mind like yours!" He exclaimed. He went back to my seat. "I'm sorry if this makes you uncomfortable." He gestured to the six men in the room. "Sit down."

I sat on the chair facing him.

"What do you want?"

"I want to give you a job. Alexei. Explain." He span in the seat facing away from me. The man with the cold blue eyes sat in the chair facing me.

"He wants to give you a job."

"And who is he?" I asked. "I already have a job."

"And we can pay triple what you make at this hospital. You can still keep this job but you will be on call whenever we need you."

I frowned at him. This offer sounds familiar because Romano Mancini tried to recruit me through Nick and I declined. I don't know what Nick told him because he never pushed after that. If this is what I'm thinking, I'm in trouble. "Are you a mobster?" I whispered.

Alexei leaned close to me. "Yes." He whispered back with a wicked smile.

The other men started laughing.

I feel like there's a joke here and I'm the only one not getting it.

"I have to respectfully decline. I'm sorry but I won't work for the mob."

Alexei was about to say something when his boss held out his hand to stop him. They began a dialogue in Russian. I did not understand anything. Before I knew it, they all got up. The boss buttoned his coat. He gazed at me. "I don't take no for an answer. Think of me as that obsessed boyfriend who kills off everyone to get his way. This isn't over Doctor Cavaleiro. I'll be seeing you soon."

They all took their exit. I followed to make sure they are gone. Janet crawled out from under her desk. "They knew my name. They knew where I lived and they said if I don't get you here they will kill everyone in this hospital. I had no choice. I'm so sorry. Should I call the police?"

"No. No police."

"Will they come back?"

I know they will and I don't think it will be a friendly dialogue if we can call what has just happened friendly.
