Katya's POV
It's been raining for hours.I should have stayed home like Federov advised but Kei begged me to accompany her for an errand. If I wouldn't have listened I wouldn't be stuck here in this old house staring outside at the lighting flashing in the sky and the thunder clapping so hard that my heart won't still.
It's dark now.
I closed the old dusty curtain.
For a divorced couple, Nick and Kei are awfully comfortable with each other. She's on his lap laughing like a teenage girl. He's whispering things into her ears and touching her inappropriately. Ferrer and I aren't deterring then from behaving like hormonal teenagers.
Ferrer and I exchanged a look. He won't stop looking for little chances to say how he feels. He steals kisses from my lips. He won't stop.
I'm not even sure if I want him to stop.
Things with Federov are great. Peachy even! He's the perfect safety net. Everything about him is right and it's safe. But my heart won't give. My mind reasons that this is the best decision I can make. That I need to choose him if I want guaranteed success. But my heart wants Ferrer.
"This doesn't have to be that difficult." He approached me. He glance at the two people who seriously need to get a room. "It can be that easy."
"Easy? Do you think you have made things easy?"
"No I haven't. But I would like to if you let me."
I folded my hands over my chest resting them on the baby. We are having a girl. Ferrer found that out and he spoilt the surprise. He said it even before Shannon could. The excitement in him was unbearably infectious. I couldn't help but join him. That was the day we were together in the doctor's room. After that he looked for every excuse to see me even if it was to bring a pair of socks for the baby. All that was a series of excuses to kiss me,hold me and tell me he loves me. He won't stop. He's not making it easy. He's creating confusion in my mind.
"I don't want you to make it easy!" I screamed at him.
Nick and Kei got out of their bubble. She slid off his lap to join us. "Katya, calm down. What's going on?"
"No offense to you, but I would like to sort this out with her even if she is screaming at me from the top of her voice."
"Hey Kei. Come." Nick called her and like a good little girl they gave us space. They disappeared into one if the two rooms.
She said she would be checking out this place for real estate purposes. She didn't say that Nick or Ferrer would be here. She wasn't surprised to find them here. She played me. She tricked me into this situation!
"I want to go home."
"I agree. After the storm passes I'll take you to my place."
"That is not home."
"Neither is Federov's place. Why won't you see that?" He held my arms to keep me still.
"Let go of me!"
"Why won't you see that he's just a safety net! You're choosing him because it's the easiest safest choice!"
"Can you blame me when you have broken my heart?" I pushed him away.
He looks frustrated. He ran his hands over his face. "I know. I know I have broken your heart over and over again. I'm not proud of it. I'm... I'm trying to make it up to you. I'm trying to be a better man do please Katya, choose me! Come home with me!"
I glanced at the front door. The storm shatters are loose. I don't know if this creaking house will survive the storm. It's pouring hard. "Go home. Get out and leave now!"
