I pulled out a big black book, it was not the biggest of them all, but it was big, its title, 'A Thousand Reasons Why,' was written in sliver cursive handwriting. I took a seat next to the opening facing the west. It was not late into the night as the moon was not fully shining. I folded my legs and tucked them under me, I only had on a night dress and no shoes. I had already reached the twelfth chapter, it was a remarkably an amazing story, with its simple language and its story pulling me making me want more.
"I thought you were prohibited to move without supervision or an escort?" That was strange, those were the exact words written in the book. Was the book magical or something? It had spoken. Something did not feel right, I looked up to come eye to eye with the prince himself. He raised an eyebrow.
"Your royal highness I was well- I was-" I stumbled over words to say. What could I say? "I thought you calling for attention from my mother and sister was enough, but it seems it was not. If you think you can use your other methods of securing my hand then I must say you are a fool." He pointed manicured fingers to my body. Was he impaling, did he suggest?
"I beg your pardon your royal highness, but I cannot do such a thing! For you to even suggest such it is highly despicable it is –." He cut me short of what I wanted to say. "The only thing that is despicable is you. A young lady such as yourself one of the debutantes in the prince's private rooms wearing nothing but an almost transparent sleeping dress. Why would I not suggest such a thing?" There was an awkward silence that filled the room. Him calm and me angry. He gestured towards the door and I walked past him, not even curtsying he did not seem to mind though. He just wanted me gone. Like as if I would ever fall for a tramp like him. I climbed back into my room using the tree and shut the window a little too hard. And went straight to bed. He had twenty-four debutantes to choose from, I was only a guest.

"Rise and shine lady Naomi, today is a big day." Lauren said as she opened the curtains. The bright light from outside hit my face. And it took all my might not to pull up my bed cover to hide my face from the intruder that called its self-light. "Oh, my goodness my lady, it will take me half an hour to get the tangles out of your hair. And is this a leaf?"
"Maeve my hair is not that bad, it just needs a brush here and there thats all." The two ladies pulled me out of bed and practically threw me into the bathing room. I rolled my eyes. I heard Lauren speak. :Today you have a lot planned, first breakfast with the royal family." My eyes snapped opened. And the warm soapy water felt cold suddenly. That was what I was dreading, meeting him, not after he suggested that I tried to use my body to secure him. But what hurt most were my apples, I did not get to eat them.
"Then you would be going to the queens salon, and after that in the evening, there will be a ball, a welcoming ball for the debutantes and also for the opening of the season. Is that not amazing my lady?" I walked out with a red robe rapped around my body. "It depends though, I would have to entertain the annoying presence of those two annoying brats and then dance for hours and hours upon end and end up with aching feet. Yes, definitely amazing Lauren."
"But you could get to dance with the prince or the lord Donovan, I think both of them are cute." Maeve said as she tried drying my hair. Or more of like tangle it more, the hairs on my head just would not listen and do as told. I sighed, I missed mother, only she knew how to handle my wild strands, after all I had gotten them from her. "Lord Donovan looks nice and friendly, although I have not gotten the chance to make his acquaintance yet, as for the prince I do not think he would like a dance with me or I him." They both exchanged glances.
"Well, my lady, I must say you are the first person that has ever said she would not want to dance with the prince himself."
"Unlike some other ladies."
"You are right Maeve, you should hear Lady Penelope and Lady Amelia, the two hazardous witches have already had four to six different maids in less than the space of the night. You should have heard them blunter about how they have this or that my lady, they are really annoying." I needed an apple. "Do not worry Lauren I understand you perfectly well. I went to finishing school and grammar school with them."
Maeve had finally manged to get my hair done. Lauren stood in front of me. "What do you think about this my lady?" she held out a dress, to be honest I did not get the chance to fully take in the patterns or colours of the dress because just then Maeve broke into an argument about the dresses, they had both picked out and the perfect jewels they should match with. 'This is going to be a long day I said to myself.'
