I dropped to my knees, the whole room filled with silence, until everything happened until my brain started processing everything.
I was pushed aside, as servants and maids rushed to the prince's aid. As they tried to save the queens life. Nothing worked, nothing happened. Just like the king was, she was also poisoned.
I saw as the white cloth covered her whole form, the prince on his knees begging and crying. I cried with him, feeling his pain, his heartache. He knelt besides his mother's dead body, no one was in the room except him and I. I walked to him and placed my hand on his shoulder. He jerked it off.
"You!" eyes blazing red, he pointed at me. "You did this!" He screamed. I took a step back as he took a step forward. "You killed my mother, she died because of you!"
" I did not, I tried to warn you." "Warn me about what?" He took another step forward and I back. "I tried to warn you about the poisoning but you did not--" "What poisoning when she is dead!" He pointed towards the dead body. "The poisoning that—" I looked around, we were not alone, all eyes were on me.
"The plate," I pointed to it, "have it tasted, she was poisoned." "She was not poisoned she died because of you, because you are so selfish that you want me so badly that you had to walk in here and start insulting everyone." "Me?" I said as I took a step forward, "I tried to warn you about the plate, but did you listen, you pushed me aside."
I stumped my feet on the ground, he ignored me and pushed past me. "Tell the ladies to get ready for the evening ball, I will pick my bride, the only woman I dance with throughout tonight will be my bride and it will not be you."
He did not look at me as he said it as he walked out, I felt my world crumple, as I fell to the floor. I turned towards the dead queen and cried. "What did I do wrong? All I did was try to warn you and him, but you just did not listen." I thought I saw her fingers twitch, but dead people did not twitch their fingers.
Picking up my skirts I ran after him.
"Amelia is not good for you." He did not turn back, walking with long strides to the other wing of the castle. "And you think you are better?" I still followed after him, he motioned for the guards to stop me, they held me back, not getting a step or two closer to him. "But you claimed you love me." I whispered. What was love? Did I believe in it anymore? I did, I did believe.
He turned and walked towards me. He motioned for the guards to let go of me and they did, he spread his arms wide as if coming for a hug but then pulled my body alongside his. I had to ran to keep up with him, once we had reached a corner he stopped. "You asked me if I believed in love, and I said, no, love was just a game, a fools play and you were stupid enough to have fallen for it. I already got what I wanted, I do not need you anymore. I will be glad to send you an invitation to I and Amelia's wedding." Then he stalked off.
"A pity is it not?" I heard Madelyn's voice from the distance. "Some just never learn."
I leaned against the cold wall as I felt myself sink slowly into black waters, all hope, all happiness fading away into nothing but blackness and memories.
