It seemed near the room I was in, hushed voices spoke from within. I pressed my ear against the wall but could barely hear anything, I followed the voices along the wall and with every step I took the sound grew louder and louder. I stood in between shelves and held my breath, waiting for the conversation to begin.
"I am out of time, can you not see that?" The sound of a shattering glass was heard. "What do you want me to do then, I have tried my best." "Well try harder." The first voice spoke. "I have had to deal with the annoying presence of the two of them for so long. I need the crown, I need it now."
" Well you can easily take it if you want, it will not be so hard-" "So hard?" The first voice cut him short. "So hard yet you could not do a simple bidding." The scrapping of a chair against the hard floor could be heard, it filled the silence that hanged in the room. "It will be done today, as a matter of fact as I speak now, it is being carried out. Look all you need is time then you will have it. Have it to your bidding. Have it and do all that you wish, all you claim."
" I do not have time, must I spell it out for you to understand?" I peeked in between the shelves one had his back to me so I could not see, the other was too far in the darkened room to see.
"And what about Trenton? Something has to be done about him, he will spoil your plans if he is not eliminated." There was movement of feet in the room. "Trenton is not a problem, he can easily be removed." "And the girl, Naomi? He does have a liking towards her. What should I do with her?" There was a pause and simply, "Kill her."
I stumbled against my own feet and the noise was heard, in not less than a second footsteps come into view, black and black from head to toe, they both had masks covering their faces even their eyes were barely visible.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" The voice spoke, "If it is not her grace Naomi Faye Kathleen, tsk tsk, tsk, I thought you were smart enough to figure things out, but you are as stupid as him." She crossed the room to the open window and closed them.
"Too bad you both think with your hearts and not heads, he literally has his dick leading him to you. And the fool thought he could marry me off." She laughed. A strange evil laugh, then turned to face me, pulling of her black mask. "Naomi, it is such a shame, you would have made such an amazing queen. But with all the food you eat, well I am sure we would have to get a bigger seat for you, as for now, dear, dear, we would never know what kind of a queen you would make. It Is a shame though, what do you think?" She looked at her partner that simply nodded, he did not speak but nodded.
She walked over to me and dragged my hair hard, making me scream, she forced my face to the portrait of her on the throne.
"What conclusion have you come up with Naomi?" She whispered, the door to the room closed shut and I felt cold metal against my skin: 'Do not panic' I told myself 'do not panic.' "As we speak now the queen will be poisoned. You see, I had some maids make her a certain treat with just enough poison in it. With one bite she will be dead, then it would be just me and Trenton, of course you are out of the picture. I simply used you as a source of destruction. Trenton is a fool."
She let go of my hair and walked to the cabinet that had the drinks. She sat down, placing her princess tiara on her head. "Of course you can join me," She said after she took a sip of her wine. "I heard tale that your father wants you to marry the prince so that he could get a permanent position in court. Well of course I can give your father one if you join me. Trenton is a good sport. I might not kill him after all."
She took another sip, a longer one. "But of course if you refuse, I would have to end your life here and then, because I cannot let our little secret get spilled by some spoiled brat. You have two options here darling, I am being generous." She eyed me, waiting for me to break, to say something, to speak. "No!" It was one word, but she heard it.
" What did you say?" "No, I said no, I will not allow you to carry out your plans, no." She laughed, "But I am afraid it is already happening, and it is a shame, in the near future I would boldly say you allowed for his death to happen." She stood up and walked to the closed window and in the distance looked at her brother.
