Twenty-three

double update :]

"That was really cool of you," Jake smiles as he pushes the swing back with his legs. Sunoo blushes and nods, looking down at his swinging feet.

It was break time, and Sunoo and Jake were hanging out on the large swing which could fit about three people. It didn't swing extremely high, but it was still fun nonetheless, "I guess, but it's still awkward!" Sunoo suddenly exclaims but Jake doesn't flinch and just laughs.

"Well, of course it would be," Jake gives Sunoo a playful punch, "You were literally babying him for who knows how long and now you're treating him like your crush/friend again, of course Sunghoon would be a little weirded out."

"What do you know Jake," Sunoo pushes back gently with his legs, slowing down the pace of the swing. The cooling breeze tickles his cheek as he chortles, "you're so perfect – you would now how to react – if you were in place, you probably would've never messed up like I did," He glances over at Jake who doesn't smile just lets out a mindless laugh that seems to confuse Sunoo.

"Sunoo, If I were in your place – I probably would've chickened out." Jake admits as he cocks his head back to remove the fallen strands of hair out of his face, "Sunoo, you're a really caring person like really – there should be more people like you, you know,"

Sunoo's eyes widen, "Wait – really. You would've chickened out, maybe we do need to hang out a little more," he jokes.

Nodding his head, "The thing is you never give up. If you truly love a person you won't let logic or the future get in the way and you let that happen this time because you thought it was a weakness but the thing is Sunghoon needed what you thought was wrong and that's why Sunoo you're a really caring person," Jake lets the tip of his shoe gently graze the concrete before beginning to push his legs, the base of the swing lifting up slowly. The words finally sink into Sunoo's skin, his form not understanding how to comprehend the words in a way Sunoo could act on them.

"Wow intellectual much," Sunoo scoffs, tucking his hair behind his ear and lets out a weak sigh, "is it just me or did it become really cold?" He lets the swing slow down, pressing his hands over his shoulders as if he were wrapping an invisible blanket around himself.

"I guess," Jake ponders for a moment, pushing the swig ever so slightly so that their feet weren't met with that horrible scrapping noise, "Do you wanna go inside?" Sunoo doesn't answer only giving him another question.

"What do cinnamon rolls have inside them?" Sunoo quickly let the words slip past his lips, frozen in his position as he waits for Jake to respond.

A drift of wind circles past the two making their hair tickle against their cheek, "Sunoo, let's go inside." Jake tries to change the subject and begin walking towards the school.

"But, Jake," His thoughts vying with his heart and his head, wondering around trying to collect all of his insecurities and aspirations, smashing them into one clear question: "What if we can't be what we used to be?"

The continues silence and empty responses from Jake made Sunoo feel uncomfortable; more lost than ever. His thoughts were intangible at this point he wanted to use his heart to think, really, yet his brain wouldn't let him – it felt as if two tides were crashing against each other fighting for dominance, fighting for what he really wanted to hear. Was there really an answer?

"Sunghoon would understand – he isn't the same person, is he?" Jake takes a step closer to Sunoo, "you weren't the only one who changed, and you can't blame anyone, it was natural all you have to do is go with the flow you know. The beginning isn't always the best part of the story,"
