Chapter sixteen

♡♡♡

"I'll miss you Ddeonu," Sunoo cooed as he ran his fingers through Ddeonu's grey fur. He stood up straight again, looking up at Sunghoon for a brief second.

The small bunny hopped over to its original owner, Sunghoon crouching down and scooping up Autumn in his arms. She nuzzled her nose against the edge of Sunghoon's chin, "Come on Autumn – let's go," He muttered quietly and let Autumn onto the floor. Sunoo watched the scene with a slight hoarse sigh which managed to catch Sunghoon's attention.

"...you can come in if you want." Sunghoon faced Sunoo with a subtle smirk that was hidden by the wispy movements of Sunghoon's hair. There was a short silence but was soon followed by a vigorous nod.

Stepping inside, "Aw, you're so nice Hoonie!" The exclaim made Sunghoon blush a plethora of reds and pinks which, thankfully, was unseen by Sunoo. He placed down a glass with a soft thud and petted Ddeonu on the head with a pout, "I missed you~" He giggled.

"It's been two seconds," Sunghoon shifted the pillows and took a seat, watching the two of them play around.

"And you weren't the same?" Sunoo stopped kneeling and eyed Sunghoon.

"I guess," The brown-haired male choked with a playful smile that took Sunoo off guard, returning the fond smile.

It was a bright day, the sun peeking into the drawn windows with a playful smile that lit up the room. Sunghoon was glad that it was sunny on his discharge day – contrary to popular belief, he enjoyed the day more than the night. Seeing the world be lit up and alive made him feel lit up and alive. He admired the little subliminal acts of kindness and watching the small birds tweet their sweet melodies. Only a few things could make Sunghoon feel that way so he cherished them even if most people would consider it silly.

But what made him slightly happier was the fact that Sunoo wasn't awkward with him. Yes, Sunoo had visited his hospital room (almost) every day but he hadn't spoken much to Sunoo. Even so, Sunghoon would never be able to grasp what had happened in the hospital and everything he'd learned. But for now, it was best to act normal.

Sunghoon placed the metal bowl onto the floor and stuffed pieces of hay into it, patting his hand on the floor to grab Autumn's attention. She hopped closer to her bowl and gave the hay a small sniff before quickly nibbling at her food, "Good girl, do you want a carrot?" Sunghoon chuckled when Autumn ran into the kitchen to sniff out the carrot her owner was talking about.

"Ddeonu," Sunoo scooped her in his arms, "Here's a carrot- Oh, good Ddeonu!" He let out a quiet yelp when Ddeonu began nibbling as the carrot the second Sunoo waved the vegetable over Ddeonu's face. Sunoo let her down and watched her run into the living room.

Sunghoon took a seat on the sofa and held his head in his hand. He was too comfortable in his seat to switch on the TV, so he settled for the large open-planned window. A few birds flying by with the occasional people rooming around and basking in the unexpected warmth. The scene was like one of those animal cartoons shows in which nothing much seemed to happen, yet everything did. The few stray bunnies hopping around aimlessly reminded him of a fond and old memory but also reminded him of something Ni-Ki suggested.

"Ddeonu, no more carrot!" Pulling the bowl of carrots away from Ddeonu, Sunoo tutted softly and placed it on the dining table. He brushed his palms clean and brought Ddeonu over to her pent, "Now I can keep an eye on you while your inside – indoor hutches are so clever," Sunoo chuckled and poked his finger through the cage.
