Chapter Twenty-six

♡♡♡

"Sunghoon," Ni-Ki nudges at his side, "What's gotten you so happy?" The teasing words made Sunghoon blush – shaking his head dismissively.

It had almost been two days since Sunoo and his first date together, but it had also been two days since their first kiss. He actually wanted to see him again to realise any unwanted tension or awkwardness, but he wasn't feeling too well, and he wanted to be there for Ni-Ki when he was taking his new medicine since he wasn't eligible for chemotherapy yet.

"It's nothing..." He flubs on his words as he takes a sip of his warm soup, "it's just-"

"You're still stuck on 'the date' and 'the kiss' – right?" Ni-Ki places his spoon back into the half-full bowl of soup, glancing over at Sunghoon. He watches his palish sickly skin burn into a faint crimson that makes Ni-Ki choke on his water.

Ni-Ki rubs at his temples, pushing the white bowl away from his table. "Why don't you just go see him again?" Ni-Ki leans his cheek on his fist, turning to avert his gaze from his unfished meal which he refused to eat.

"Aren't you going to finish your soup?" Sunghoon notices how full the bowl of soup the pushed away bowl was. Ni-Ki shook his head in response before fidgeting around in his seat, "do you feel sick?" He leans over onto his hand.

"Uh... not really," Ni-Ki doesn't seem to let his smile falter at the edges which reassure Sunghoon, "I feel better than yesterday at least," he fiddles with his rings and smiles quietly to himself.

"I can't just leave you to eat that gross medicine on your own," Once Sunghoon found out the sore circumstance Ni-Ki had been put in and they were friends for a reason. The rough surgery he was meant to be put in after the daily 7-8 pills made him cringe, he knew that gross feeling of thinking why am I still here even though I'm flaking apart. Ni-Ki didn't like to show his disappointment or how worried he was so Sunghoon knew that he had to be there.

Ni-Ki had slowly been talking less and less which worried Sunghoon since he was usually the one who blabbered on about mindless small talk and chatter. He was that one boy with the purple hair and comforting smile that he could just spend time with without having to worry about consigning in his pain because he would know the pain. But now it was time for him to be that one friend for Ni-Ki after everything he'd done – he just wanted to see him smile again. A genuine one.

"You have your own life Sunghoon, I'm not dying any time soon," Ni-Ki chuckles in between his intended pause, "at least not for another couple of weeks or that's what my doctor says," Ni-Ki had some sort of innocence that made him heavy jokes a little fluffier. He hadn't lived exceedingly long yet his life was basically a video on repeat, but he seemed to find something good every day but lately, he was finding it quite difficult.

Tapping his chest lightly when he let out a whizzy cough, "Are you sure I should call Sunoo for another date or a hang out I guess." Ni-Ki rolls his eyes when Sunghoon refrains from calling it a date.

"It's a date!" Ni-Ki rubs the word into Sunghoon's skin, "and yeah I can just play some games or sleep or something..." he mutters out incoherently.

Sunghoon pouts out his lips as he ponders to himself, "Maybe you can come with us,"

"What no – it's not a date then!" Ni-Ki acts as if he'd spit out all of his water onto the table, the loud remark making Sunghoon jump back.

"No, not like a third wheel thing," Sunghoon begins his idea, "like Sunoo brings a friend and then we can all hang out – Sunoo actually wants to meet some of my friends since he showed me his."
