Zayn *10
Zayn was itching to get inside and hear Felicity's explanation. He had been worried sick and he felt helpless when he knew nothing about the girl he was trying to woo. He wanted to know more and he knew that there was no better a time to learn more about her than now.
Zayn's foot tapped continuously at the floor boards. He was leaning forward with his head on his hands, waiting for the doctor to finish up her checkup. Zayn glanced at the clock hanging up on the wall in front of him. It had been about 10 minutes since the doctor had arrived and no less than 5 minutes since he's been inside with her. He was getting agitated.
Light footsteps coming from the direction of the stairs greeted his ears. His head sprung up and spun in its direction. He gazed at Melody, Felicity's blonde older sister who was the reason why he knew Felicity, walked up to him. In her hands was a tray with tea, teacups, sugar, and milk. "Here, it's been awhile and I suspected that you'd might like a drink."
Zayn sent her a grateful smile, muttering a quiet, "Thank you" before he took the tea being offered and pouring in his desirable amount. Melody smiled back at him, taking a seat beside him on the ottoman that he had been sitting on.
Melody had fixed herself her own cup and quietly sipped it beside him. The silence didn't faze Zayn. His foot tapped continuously. Melody kept snatching side glances at that foot. She was immensely annoyed by the sound, but she decided to tolerate it for the time being. He was just worried for her sister and she understood that. Frankly, she was glad that someone could care for her sister so much.
Zayn's hands clutched the cup as his other hand clenched and unclenched to the minutes that ticked by. He jumped a bit when he felt a hand on his shoulder, swiftly realizing his mistake and relaxing under the touch.
"Calm down, Felicity's fine, thanks to you. Just breathe and you'll get to see her." With that, Melody got up and left him alone, taking the tray with her.
Zayn sighed, knowing that he should follow her advice. He shut his eyes, massaging his temples as he leaned back on the wall. He inhaled and exhaled, trying to relax more. He could feel the tension in his shoulders, as if he were ready to pounce at any given moment.
He repeated the exercise several more times, finally relaxed. That was also the same time that he heard a door open. His eyes snapped towards the doctor who gently closed the door behind him, leaving the softest 'click' to break the silence of the hall.
Zayn walked up to the doctor, his footsteps light on the floorboards.
The doctor hadn't noticed him there until he was right in front of him. The doctor jumped in surprise, raising a hand to his chest. "You surprised me," the doctor said in monotone. "What can I do for you?"
"I'm sorry. Is she alright? Will she be okay?"
"She's fine," the doctor replied as he closed his briefcase. "She just needs some rest, that's all." The doctor turned to him. "Are you family?"
"No," he paused, "I'm her boyfriend."
The doctor nodded. "Well, then I must go. Take good care of her, okay."
Zayn wasn't able to reply because the doctor spun on his heel and went down the stairs. Zayn watched the doctor's form until he disappeared. He looked to the door to Felicity's room, wondering if maybe, just maybe, that it might show him some more of a glimpse into the girl.
His hand reached for the doorknob, hesitating as he got closer.
"My dad told me to come get you," a voice spoke up, surprising him for the second time in an hour. Melody looked at him coolly as she waited for an answer. "Are you coming?"
