Well... the cameras didn't do much.

L reviewed the footage, and came to the conclusion that nothing was outwardly suspicious. Of course, you knew otherwise but you couldn't say it yet. So the cameras were taken down and the next phase of the plan was in motion. L wanted to watch Light in person, so right now he was stalking him at his entrance exams.

While he was there however, you were running a few errands. Planning to pick him up afterwards. You see when you turned 16 and started learning to drive, your father who owned a graveyard and was a mortician gifted you your first car.

A hearse. The perfect goth car. Although this one had never been used to transport bodies before. And when it became clear you'd be spending up to a year in Japan for this case and basically moving there, you had your car sent over as well so you had something to drive.

Driving around Japan in your beloved hearse did get some strange looks but you were used to it, and found it amusing. You errands consisted of getting some cakes for L, extra burner phones for the case and killing some time with a little browse around the other shops. You ended up killing time in a shop called the bat cave, that sold gothic Lolita type clothes and other decor.

You definitely seemed to fit in, while now in Lolita, you were head to toe in elegant black attire and bat shaped sunglasses. A parasol under your arm and bag shaped like a coffin. As you went through all the pretty dresses and Mary Jane shoes they had on display, you could feel someone's eyes watching you.

You brushed it off, you got looks all the time dressed the way you do. But this time, you were approached. Feeling a tap on your shoulder, you turned to see a blonde girl all dresses up in classic harajuku street goth.

"Sorry to disturb but I just wanna say I adore your dress" she smiled.

Oh... that was new.

"Oh, thank you! I usually get asked if I'm going to a funeral" you replied.

"I get that sometimes when I'm dressed more dramatically"

"Hey... we're wearing the same shoes" you pointed out.

Looking down at her shoes and then down at yours poking out from the end of your dress, she laughed.

"Oh my god we are!" She giggled.

Before you could say anything else, a rather strict looking woman called out for the girl.

"Amane! Photoshoot in 30 minutes. Hurry up" she said.

"Ugh. I gotta go, you look great though" the blonde smiled.

"Thank you, so do you" you replied.

With that, she rushed off to catch up with the other woman. You turned back ti the shelf you were looking at, and the feeling of being watched lingered...

Maybe it wasn't the girl watching you. Maybe it was... security cameras? Someone else in the store? Who knew. But someone was definitely watching you. You could feel it in your soul.

Amane... that sounded familiar.

You left the store with a little spooky charm bracelet, but that was about it. You made a mental note to go back one day and properly browse the dolls they had in the corner. But you had to go get L. That name lingered in your head though, you'd definitely heard it before.

As you pulled up at the University entrance, you snickered seeing all the students heads turn to look at your car. L snickered too seeing the reaction.

You wound down the window, revealing your spooky appearance to everyone watching.

"Get on loser we're going to a seance" you joked.

"Fun we can summon my old demon friend from the graveyard" he joked back.

L got in the passenger seat beside you. Reaching over to kiss your cheek before buckling up. You began to head back to the hotel.

"Hows driving this old thing around Japan been?" L asked.

"The states I get are hilarious. I mean it is and older model and more of a western car I guess" you replied.

"Got those cakes?"

"Of course, I can't have my undead beauty going hungry. I got everything else too and surprisingly, I was complimented"

That got L's attention, usually the two of you got stares or funeral comments.

"Oh? By a fellow spooky enjoyer?" He asked.

"Yeah. I was in a goth Lolita place to kill time and this girl who had the same shoes as me said she liked my look. She seems familiar but I can't put my finger on it... Amane something?"

"HOLD ON- MISA AMANE?"

Well, that was quite the reaction. But it did make it click into place.

"Oh yeah! That visual Kei singer and model you like" you said.

"You're telling me that Misa Amane herself walked up to you in a goth Lolita shop and told you you were pretty?" L asked.

"Yep. I had the same shoes as her too remember"

"Why does all the cool stuff happen when I'm not around? She's a literal celebrity. One that I like!"

You laughed at his pouting. Like a disappointed fanboy.

"Bit of a fanboy are we?" You teased.

"I-I simply like her music"

You gave him a 'really?' Look and he shot a playful glare back at you.

"Look the only woman I fawn over is you. But her music is good, that's all" L reiterated.

"I know I'm just teasing you darling. I would never question your loyalty, I know you'r never leave me for a celebrity"

"I can barely function without you, and I know you'd never leave me either"

Taking your hand and kissing it, he gave you a smile.

"Oh don't you treat me like a goddess..." you commented.

"You deserve it" he replied.

Pulling up at the hotel, you bought your stuff inside and unpacked it all, meeting back up with the taskforce. There was no time to waste and it was right back into the case. Although you couldn't shake the feeling something was watching you back at the shop. Maybe later on when L told you what he observed of Light, you can tell him about your weird feeling.

As it started to get later, and the sun cast its golden hour against the closed curtains you were already forming a plan to get to the bottom of that monster.
