Danté's moving a lot of resources. Firepower and manpower both. All the agents in the agency are on his side. Hindi na ako nagulat doon. He's the director, of course he can manipulate those people. Ang ikinagulat ko ay nang makita sa thumb drive ang ebidensiya na kalahati sa brotherhood ay nasa puder na rin niya. That's almost impossible! The brotherhood is bound by loyalty. How the fuck did he convince those people to turn?

With money? Power? What in the hell could make those brothers betray their people?

"War... He's preparing for it," I said when it dawned on me.

He's using a shit ton of money to do that. Ang tanong lang ay kung sino ba ang kakalabanin niya? Because I'm sure it's not just one person or one family. He's looking to destroy an organization. An empire.

Biglang sinara ni Aiden ang laptop kaya napatingin ako sa kanya.

"I'm not done checking it," I said.

Binaliwala ni Aiden ang sinabi ko at saglit siyang yumuko.

"Nerissa," pagtawag niya.

"What?"

Nang magtama ang tingin namin ay nakita ko kung gaano ka seryoso ang itsura niya. He's always serious but this one right now is different. Mas malala. Mas mapanganib.

"Do you want to know why Danté Vasquez killed your family?"

My eyes widened a fraction. Of course I want to know. Pero hindi ko naisip na kaya niyang sagutin iyon. I instilled in my mind that only Danté could answer that.

"Alam mo ba?"

"Yeah but you never asked about it."

Kasi ayoko namang pag-usapan iyon. Not with him or Colton. I initially thought it was their family who killed mine. For Aiden to actually solve that it was Danté, that was already a big help. Ang kulitin pa siya sa kung anong nalalaman ay sobra na.

"It's 'cause I don't want to talk about it with you."

"Well, you need to now. Otherwise you won't be able to devise a plan to kill Danté Vasquez."

Why are we suddenly talking about this? We were just browsing the thumb drive!

Huminga ako ng malalim. If he knows something, then I should hear it. I'm just really scared to know why. I'm naturally impulsive. I'm afraid of what I can do once I learn the truth. I might sprint off and do whatever the hell it will take to get out of this school.

But the Cortells are here... As twisted as it may seem, I know they won't let me do stupid shits. Leaving would be one of those.

"Fine. Tell me what you know."

Aiden nodded. "Let's start here: Did you know that your mother was an agent in your intelligence agency?"

My lips parted in shock.

"What? I didn't know that..." Actually, I don't know anything about the background of both of my parents. I didn't question them when I was young. Even if everything happening around me was dangerously mysterious, I didn't ask. Dapat pala pinakialaman ko ang lahat ng bagay noong bata pa ako para hindi ako nangangapa ngayon.

"Yes and she was partners with Danté Vasquez. Both decorated agents working multiple classified missions," Aiden said. He's watching me closely. As if by looking at me that way, he'll be able to lessen the shock his information brings. "Should I continue?"
