Levi's POV

"Good morning, Hanji..." I whispered into her ear, kissing her cheek afterward. I don't want to leave her side... but I have to. With the expedition in a few hours, I can't spend it all with my beloved angel. I want... her again...

She twists and turns in bed, but eventually, she had an exhausted look on her face. "Morning, Levi... what are you doing here? You're supposed to be out into your cabin. Everyone is waking up, what are you doing?! Shoo- go! Out!"

She pushed me out of bed, running to her drawers. "Hanji-."

"Save it, Levi. You need to get down to Miche; immediately." She quickly pulls her panties up and struggling with her bra. "And I need to get down to my squad. We need to do a quick equipment check. We almost got caught last night by Erwin- please hurry."

I nod my head, slowly putting my clothes back on. Erwin's the problem. With this expedition, I can finally eliminate him. The way he touches my angel and how he makes her smile... I wanted her to smile only for me. No one else but me. Plus, not only would his death result in him leaving his dead hands off of her, but I'll be able to live without the fear of him looking down at every move I make.

"Levi!" I turned to see Hanji pulling her hair into a ponytail. "What are you doing?! Hurry it up!"

My heart pounding with fear as I sat on my horse, moving slightly to rid myself of the stillness. From behind, I heard Farlan mumbling my name. "Levi, what are you doing?"

"Waiting."

"Well, I know that. Are you going to do something during the expedition? And I do not mean you doing the regular duties as a Scout. You know exactly what I mean. But the real question is... are you going to do something serious?"

What... does he mean by that?

He doesn't mean... murder, right? Sorry, Farlan, but I have to do this. I must. Without a doubt, I have to do this. Why? It's for Hanji, of course.

As I heard from Erwin last night, it was going to rain. And it did. Not even an hour passed into the expedition that the rain started to fall. The mist began to rise, fogging up Erwin's plans for the smoke signals. From where I'm positioned, Erwin was to my left. At least, this is only what I heard. With all of this rain, it'll be hard to tell if a titan wanders in. If so... Erwin's death can only be mistaken as a titan within the ranks. It went unnoticed.

Riding up closely towards Erwin's squad, he wouldn't be directly upfront. He would have some squad members in front. He'll be in the safer spot: in the middle of his squad. Miche had me follow the same thing. Him in the middle as I'm on the outer front.

Despite the slippery grass underneath my horse's hooves, I should've been where Erwin is. At least a slight distance behind him.

Continuing to ride ahead, I thought I found a form riding in the rain. Their hood was up, covering their head from behind. If I ran in front and saw who it was... well, I could end up with two results. One, it could've been Erwin and I could've killed him right then and there. There was a possibility it wasn't Erwin and they would report it to Erwin that I was there anyway. A 50/50 chance. What should I choose? A quick death for this figure? Or wait and let my chance blow away?

I raised my sword, forgiving the horse for its unfortunate fate. Jabbing the sword into the spine, the person in front gave a weak cry as they slumped over. Their hands still gripping onto the reins of the horse, and I watched them fall into the mud. It shouldn't have killed them. Not yet, anyway.

I thought I spotted a titan or two. If Erwin could survive that jab, his fate is up to the titans that I failed to kill. All for him. Perhaps this is a lesson to him to stay away from me. Though, there was a slight tang of sorrow when I thought of Hanji. If it wasn't for him, I would never have met the beautiful light in my life. Hanji...

I turned my horse towards Miche's squad and kicked into its hind legs. It was time to head back and pretend none of this happened.

"Goodbye, Erwin Smith."

Finally, the rain began to clear up as soon as we got to the abandoned village. A few people had already started their patrol around the area; killing titans if they got near us. I couldn't find Hanji. But there was someone I knew that should've been dead: Erwin.

I killed the wrong one.
