Chapter 1 -

Adelaide POV

"Adelaide!! Adelaide!!" My 14 year old brother Greig screamed in my ear, "Liz is here!! Dad
says you've to go make the dinner!"

He's such an idiot, he's so childish. I would've thought he was 10, not nearly 15. You see my dad is an English teacher at Richmond High down the road, he's been working there for a few years now and made friends with this woman called Liz who is also my math teacher so that brings awkward on a whole new level. She comes over for dinner on the last Friday of every single month and of course, me being the only woman in this house. I've got to make the dinner. It's not that I mind, I mean my dad is a shit cook but he literally thinks I'm a maid or something it's so annoying but I love him cause he's my Dad and he didn't go crackhead on me, Greig and Keith when Mum left.

"Adelaide!!!" Greig interrupted my thoughts.

"Alright! I'm going!" I got up, pushing past him and walking into the kitchen where I began to cook some chicken tikka and a bowl of tomato soup.

I took the soup through to the room where Dad and Liz were sitting, she's married so it's not as if they're fucking on these Friday nights.

"Thank you Adelaide," Liz smiled at me and I awkwardly smiled back, I'm not that good around people, especially teachers.

My Dad just nodded at me so I walked back into the kitchen and began washing the cutlery that I used to make the soup. I turned around to put the spoon back in the drawer when I saw a tall blonde boy with a lip piercing standing right behind me, my natural reflexes came in and I hit in the eye, with a spoon.

"Ow!" Was all he said, at this point in time I was panicking. Who was this and why was he in my kitchen? He looked like a noodle.

"Who are you?" I asked clutching my spoon stepping back a little.

"I'm Luke, my mum took me here tonight cause she said your dad had two sons, she wants me to get to know them but she just doesn't trust me in the house alone. I got a little thirsty so I came down here to get a drink, ended up getting hit in the face with a spoon." He chuckled, smirking a little.

"I uhm...I'm Adelaide...John's daughter..." I looked down walking over to my pot of chicken. It was obvious he was going to get a black eye.

"Oh is that chicken?" Luke walked over to the plate of chicken that I was about to pour out.

"Yes." I nodded as he picked a bit up and ate it.

"This chicken is wonder cooked." He scoffed.

"It's under."

"So you agree with me?" He laughed looking down at me.

"No." I picked up the plates, walking into the living room and handing the chicken to Dad and Liz and taking their empty soup bowls away to wash them.

"So you go to Richmond then?" Luke asks drinking a bottle of Pepsi, which was bought for me and had my name on it might I add.

"Yeah." I nodded, beginning to wash the dishes.

"How old are you?" He leaned against the counter next to me, taking a sip of the Pepsi.

"I'm 17, you?" I asked, avoiding eye contact.

"Me too!" He chuckled passing me a spoon. "Don't be hitting me again, it hurt."

"Sorry," I took it quickly washing it.

"You cook a lot?" He asked which I nodded to. "I sing and play guitar and stuff." He shrugged.

Ok so hot guy who I hit with a spoon and he played guitar and he sings? Man I had screwed up.

"I play trumpet!" I blurted out, I didn't even have a trumpet.

"What? No way! I've always wanted to learn the trumpet! Maybe you could teach me." He grins and I quickly nodded. "I'll come over Sunday 3 o'clock?" He asked.

"Y-yeah." I nodded, okay now all I needed to do was to buy and learn how to play a trumpet in a day.

"Great," he smiled then looked at the Pepsi bottle, my name written on the label. "Oops." He chuckled. "You hit me with a spoon so I guess I deserve this peace offering." And with that, he left the room.

Time to buy a trumpet.
