Chapter 10

Adelaide's POV

Another day, another chance to embarrass myself with Luke. I imagined he'll be in a bit of bad mood with me after yesterday's events with Michael. I felt sorta bad for him, he looked hurt when he saw us kissing. I had no idea what Michael and Luke were shouting last night so I wanted to find out.

Me: what's up with you and Luke?
Michael: he hates me
Me: oh okay
Michael: do you want to go out today?
Me: I can't me and Luke have trumpet lessons
Michael: baby you can blow my trumpet any day ;)
Me: NOT LIKE THAT YOU WEIRDO

Michael was so dirty, how anyone puts up with that is beyond me. I was confused. I liked Michael but as a friend and I like Luke more than a friend. But when I was kissing Michael it felt...good. I enjoyed it, but did that mean I liked Michael? Or did I like Michael and Luke? I'm actually caught in a love triangle with a couple of boys I've known for a week.

My thought train was broken when I heard the doorbell. Assuming it was Luke I answered the door.

"Uh, hi." Luke said, he was deliberately avoiding eye contact with me and I honestly couldn't blame him.

"Hey." I answered, opening the door to let him in. We walked up to my room and sat on the bed. This couldn't have been more awkward, mainly because the last time we sat here together we were about to kiss until that moron Keith came in and asked if we needed condoms.

"So...how about we start with what we did last week?" This was so painfully awkward my brain physically hurt.

"Okay." He said shortly. He was doing that thing where he just gave short answers instead of saying he was annoyed at me. He began playing and I drifted away into my thoughts.

"Adelaide? ADELAIDE?!" Luke screamed in my face.

"Sorry, sorry." I shook my head.

"Can we learn a new song now?! That's not a nursery rhyme!" Luke said.

At this point I couldn't be bothered lying anymore.

"Luke...I don't actually play the trumpet." I sighed. "I said that because I thought you were hot."

"Oh, I get it." He said. "So what else are you lying about?"

"Nothing, I just thought that-" He cut me off.

"I bet you don't even need a math tutor. I BET YOU'RE GOOD AT ALGEBRA REALLY YOU JUST WANTED TO LAUGH AT ME!" He was literally shouting at me. "I can't believe I nearly kissed you."

"Excuse me?!" I said, I was greatly offended by that.

"You heard me!" He shouted. "No wonder your mum left you!"

At that moment I could feel the colour drain from my face. My eyes filled with tears.

"I hate you Luke Hemmings, get the hell out of my house!" I screamed.

"Adelaide I didn't mean it, I'm sorry." He regretted what he'd said and I could tell.

"GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!" He picked up his stuff and left my room quickly. I ran to the kitchen and grabbed like five spoons. "HEY LUKE!" He turned around and his face lit up. I threw the spoons at him with as much force as possible.

"OW!"

I turned around and slammed the door in his face, not looking back. When he was gone, I slid down the door and sat crying.

Eventually I ran upstairs and found my phone. The first thing I thought to do was to FaceTime Michael. He picked up after a few seconds.

"Hey Ade!" Michael said. The smile left his face when he saw me crying. "What happened?!"

"Luke said something bad about my mum." I hiccuped.

"Hang on, I'm coming over." He said then he hung up.

Ten-ish minutes later, the doorbell rang so I went down stairs to get it. As soon as. Michael saw my face he walked forward and hugged me tight. I hugged him back, not wanting to let go of him. He moved backwards and wiped away my tears.

"Don't cry about something Luke said, he's an idiot."

" I told him I was lying about playing the trumpet and he said no wonder my mum left me." I sniffed.

"I'll kill him for upsetting you." Michael said. "I hate seeing you sad."

Michael looked me in the eyes and pulled me closer.

"Just remember you can blow my trumpet any day." He said then he leaned in and kissed me.

This kiss felt different, it still felt good but there was more passion in the kiss. It wasn't just making out for the sake of it. It was like he loved me. Then all I could hear was Luke telling me that Michael wouldn't love a girl, all he wants is sex.

"Fuck Luke." I thought. I kissed Michael back and it was good.

It was great.
