I am currently sitting in a very uncomfortable chair. No matter how many times I readjusted the way I was sitting it got more and more uncomfortable. During my first class this morning I got called into the office. I sat there in the cold room, waiting patiently for the lady at the front desk to tell me what was going on. She looked over at me and shot me a smile, then proceeded to go back to whatever she was working on.
I guess she's not going to give me any answers.
I looked around the office. It was nothing fancy. It had beige walls and a few pictures and paintings hung up. The pictures looked like they mostly consisted of students and different faculty members. The paintings were things like flowers in vases and there was one that looked like some sort of flower field. It was pretty boring. There were also flowers on the desk of the lady shuffling through papers. There were definitely too many flower things in here.
I waited a few more minutes before the door to my left was opened. A tall lady with long black hair stepped out and looked over to where I was sitting. She had on an uncomfortable looking grey pencil skirt and a yellow blouse. The small, framed glasses that were perched on her nose matched the skirt she was wearing.
"(L/n) (Y/n)?" She asked.
I nodded at her.
"Perfect, come on into my office please. My name is Hirano Kotone, I'll be your guidance councilor while you're here at Karasuno." She beckoned me with her hand. I got up and followed her into the room. She shut the door behind us and told me to take a seat. As I sat down, she walked around the large desk in front of me and sat in her own chair.
"Well miss (L/n), it seems that we have a bit of an issue here." She said, glancing at me from the piece of paper in her hand. My eyes widened, and fear squeezed at my chest. She must have noticed that I looked panicked.
"No no, dear. There's no reason to look so frightened. It's about your class placement." She gave me a toothy grin. "It seems that we got a few things from your file out of order. What that means is that we accidentally placed you in the wrong class." She gave me another smile, placing her hands together on the desk in front of her
"The class that you're currently in is lower than where you should be. Somehow, you ended up in 1-2 when you should be in 1-4." She shot a look at the closed door, then leaned towards me.
"I blame the person who filed away your things. But I can't say for sure that that's the case." She said with a light laugh. I then understood what she was saying, I slowly nodded at her. Not sure what else I should do.
"That means that you'll be switching rooms. I know that you just started here and with your...predicament, that might be a difficult transition." She waited, seeing if I was going to respond. I didn't.
That was just rude. Did she really want me to respond to that?
"We've already informed your teachers of this. All that's left is for you to do is get back on track with your classes. Do you have any questions for me while you're here?"
I shook my head at her. I didn't want to be here any longer than I had too. I'm not sure that I was a fan of her. She was kind of rude. But maybe it was her way of hiding behind a mask...through all the bright smiles and cheerfulness. Who was I to stop and point that out?
She smiled at me, standing up from her chair. I did the same thing. Well, minus the smile. She handed me a slip of paper, telling me to give it to the teacher when I got to class. I nodded and opened the door. Before I could head back, she called out to me.
"(L/n), do let me know if you need help with anything else. Or if you have any issues. After all, that is what I'm here for." She gave me another smile and I nodded.
I stepped out of her office and offered a smiled to the front desk lady before I walked out into the hall. I looked down at the slip of paper in my hand. It was an explanation to the teacher for my tardiness and a note explaining the class change and my situation to them. This morning was off to an odd start. I sighed and started down the hall towards the first-year classrooms. At least, that's where I thought I was going. It was only my second day, so how was I supposed to maneuver my way around the large school without confusing myself. Another sigh left my mouth as I brushed a piece of (h/l) (h/c) hair behind my ear. It was official, I was lost.
"Do you need help?"
I turned around and saw the angel boy from yesterday walking up from behind me. I could feel my cheeks get warmer as I nodded. He walked towards me with a smile on his face. He looked like he had come down from heaven just to help me. He was so bright.
"Oh, you're the girl from last night, (Y/n)-san! I'm Sugawara Koushi." He was still smiling at me. I felt like he was purifying my soul. I nodded. He tilted his head to the side. I raised my brow, silently questioning him. When I didn't say anything, he spoke up.
"So, what can I help you with (Y/n)-san?" I slowly handed him the slip of paper that the guidance counselor gave me. He read it and his eyes went wide a second before going back to normal. He looked up at me, still smiling.
"So... you're being changed to a new class?" He questioned. I nodded. He paused for a moment, looking unsure for a moment.
"You can't speak?" He questioned, the words leaving his mouth slowly. It was almost like he was afraid the question might offend me.
I nodded my head.
I tapped my throat, then shook my head. He didn't say anything to that.
"Hmm okay. Well, if you want, I can show you where your class is?" I gave him a small smile and a thumbs up. He chuckled at my response.
"It's this way." He said, pointing at the direction I had just come from. I placed my hand on my forehead, shaking my head slightly.
Of course, it's that way.
"Did you just come from that way?" He chuckled lightly.
I nodded glumly.
He smiled down at me and started walking. Our shoes squeaking against the tiles beneath us. The sound echoed around us in the empty hall.
"It's a big school, understandable that you got lost. You're new here, right?"
I nodded again.
"Well if you ever need any help or someone to talk to just let me know." He said with a smile, then frowned, looking panicked.
"I uh...I mean not talk...but you know..." He rambled out, looking flustered. I put my hand on his shoulder and gave him a smile. Showing that I knew what he meant.
"Sorry. That was insensitive of me." I shook my head at him and gave him another smile. I stopped walking, which made him stop. I pulled out my phone and started typing. When I was finished I showed him what I'd written.
It's really no big deal. I'm used to people not knowing what to say. Thank you for helping me. :)
He read over my words and gave me a smile.
"No problem (Y/n)-san." I put my phone back and we started walking again. He didn't say anything else, but the silence wasn't awkward. We walked down the hall, rounding a corner before he stopped. We had finally reached my class and he gave me another angel-like smile.
"Here's your stop. Good luck with class, and don't forget to let me know if you need anything." He gave me a small wave and then turned around and walked back in the direction we came from.
I took a deep breath and then knocked on the door.
"Come in." A gruff voice called out.
I tried to prepare myself before sliding the door open and stepping in.
