I barely managed to go back to sleep last night. Now I was so incredibly exhausted. I tossed and turned for a few hours, falling asleep about an hour before I needed to get up for school. I somehow was able to brush my teeth and properly put on my uniform successfully. When I made it downstairs and flopped into a seat, slumping onto the table. Mom walked over and rubbed my back gently.
"Were you able to go back to sleep?" She asked, looking upset at the state I was in.
I moved from the table and looked up at her. She didn't need an answer when she saw the bags under my eyes. A frown made its way across her features.
"Oh honey. Do you want to stay home from school? You don't need to go in today. You can go upstairs right now, and I'll call the school." She started to move away but I grabbed her wrist. She looked down at me, even more worry seeping into her eyes.
I shook my head at her.
"Okay...at least let me fix you something before you have to leave for school." I nodded my head and she shuffled off into the kitchen.
A little while later she came back with a plate of eggs, bacon, and a piece of toast. She sat down across from me and smiled.
"Okay, if you're going to go to school you're going to need to eat. I'm afraid it's the only way you'll have at least some energy today." I smiled at her and then at the food she placed in front of me. She wasn't the best cook, but she had at least made this edible. It was either that or I was so tired I couldn't taste it properly. Either could have been the case, but I was too worn out to try and figure it out.
After finishing up the food, I stood up from the table, grabbing my books and phone. Mom came over and wrapped me in a hug. She pulled away holding onto me by my shoulders.
"Remember to message me if you want me to come and get you or if you start feeling sick. Okay? Or if you just decide you want to come home. Just let me know, okay?" I smiled and kissed her cheek. She shooed me out of the door waving at me as I walked down the drive.
"Keep me updated throughout the day. I'll drop everything and come and get you. I love you!" I smiled at her and gave her a wave before turning around and going towards school.
I finally made it to class and collapsed into my seat, setting my head down on my arms. Maybe I should have stayed home. I just didn't think it would look good for me to skip the third day at a new school. Especially when I was already late starting into the school year. I'll just try to make it through the day. Anything will have to be easier than last night.
"Morning (L/n)." I looked up to see Yamaguchi sitting down in his seat. I gave him a weak smile. No reason to worry him, right?
"You look like crap." I internally groaned, knowing exactly who said that. I look past Yamaguchi to glare at Tsukishima. He smirked at me before he walked over to his seat, putting on his headphones. I sighed putting my head back on my arms. I really didn't want to deal with him today.
"You okay (L/n)?" I hear Yamaguchi ask from above me. I keep my head down but give him a thumbs up. Hopefully that was a good enough answer.
I felt something poke the top of my head. I internally groaned and looking up. Yamaguchi was looking down at me with a nervous smile, his hand extended out towards my head.
"Sorry...I probably shouldn't have poked you. I just wanted to make sure that you were really okay." He was too sweet. There's no way I could be mad after that. I gave him a small smile and pulled my notebook out, flipping it open to a clean blank page.
Rough night.
"Rough night?" He repeated.
I nodded.
