I stepped into the classroom. I could see everyone looking at me, so I stared straight ahead at the teacher. He was a short man, taller than I was, mid-forties, and he didn't look happy to be interrupted.
"Yes?" He gruffly asked.
I walked over to him and handed him the slip of paper with shaky hands. He looked at me, eyes narrowing, before looking down and reading the paper. His eyebrows arched and his eyes bugged a little. He adjusted his features before looking back up at me, but it wasn't difficult to miss.
"I see..." He mumbled to himself. "Well, you can take a seat over by Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi, please raise your hand." He spoke.
I looked over and saw a boy with greenish hair lift his arm up and give me a shy smile.
He's the boy from yesterday! I thought, cheeks getting a little warm remembering the incident.
"You can go sit over there (L/n)." The teacher said. I nodded and walked down the row of seats until I got to mine behind Yamaguchi. I could hear the class whispering as I sat down. I tried my best to ignore them.
"Sensei, aren't you going to have her introduce herself?" A random boy called out.
The teacher looked at me and I shook my head slightly. Silently praying that he wouldn't make me enounce my situation to the class. Thankfully, my prayers were answered.
"Nope. Don't feel like it." He said, shooting me a small smile. The class started to complain, but he quieted them down instantly.
"Unless you all want extra assignments, I suggest that you drop the matter." When the class stopped talking, he went on with the lesson I interrupted.
I pulled out my notebook and began to take notes. Since I started the school year late and was originally placed in the wrong class I definitely didn't want to fall behind. Luckily, the lesson that was being taught was one that I had already learned. I let out a sigh of relief when I realized this.
I brought my arms up to the desk, leaning my head on them. I made sure I was facing the front, so the teacher didn't think that I was sleeping. All of a sudden, my stomach let out a grumble. I blushed, only now realizing that I had forgotten to eat breakfast. I slowly looked from side to side to make sure no one heard me. Neither of my seat neighbors was looking my way, so I assumed that they didn't.
I saw a hand in front of me and I stared at it. Yamaguchi had reached back, looking as though he was stretching. I quirked a brow at his actions but thought nothing of it. When he moved his arm back in front of him, I noticed a granola bar on my desk. I smiled, reaching out and taking it. I opened it as quietly as I could and ate it, savouring the sweetness. But then it hit me, Yamaguchi had heard my stomach. I quickly hid my blushing face, even though I knew he couldn't see it.
When the lesson ended Yamaguchi turned around and we were now face to face. I gave him a small smile, still embarrassed. He smiled back.
"I think we met yesterday. I'm Yamaguchi Tadashi." It was then that you noticed the freckles. He had a few splayed across his face.
Cute.
Then I realized that he was waiting for my response. I quickly flipped through my notebook to find a clean sheet. I began writing.
Thank you for the snack :) I'm (L/n) (Y/n). It's nice to officially meet you.
I turned the notebook around and slid it towards him so he could read it. His eyes scanned over the words then looked back at me. I could see the questions lingering behind them, but he didn't ask.
