John 3 is about Nicodemus and John the Baptist. One is there to understand Jesus and the other is there to witness about Him. Is it remarkable that Jesus tells Nicodemus His true identity? The Gospel of John doesn't mention Jesus's miraculous conception. It's not really necessary to establish His divine origin. The fact that He existed from the beginning is enough to establish His origin. But that is not the one thing that stands out the most for me in this chapter. "He who comes from above is above all" (John 3:31) We sing a song- "Above all powers..." but do we realize what it means to have Jesus on top of everything? He is above all the doubts we may have, all the fears we may have. I remember a time when I didn't consider myself worthy of His love, as if my sins were too great for His blood to redeem but He is above all that. He isn't less than that under boss who keeps threatening your life. He isn't less than the rent you haven't cleared in a while. He isn't less than the landlord breathing down your neck. He isn't less than that doctor who is worried about the test results. He is above it all. He is in control of it all. Now it is up to you how much control you can yield to Him. A thing I have learnt about God the hard way is that he doesn't interfere without your permission. He gave humanity the gift of free will and he refuses to encroach upon it. In John 3:35 John the Baptist goes on to elaborate Jesus's position with God. "The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand." It doesn't say most things. It doesn't say all religious things. It doesn't say things that belong to every pious and holy person. All things means all things. He has the power to turn filth into manna because he has authority over all things and he being holy only turns things to good. His yoke is easy. His burden is light. What is keeping you from yoking your life to Him? If God can give all things into His hand why can't you?
