'Ah, um, hi..?' I said awkwardly, 'One second...'

I started to speedwalk out of the building, to avoid anyone eavesdropping on the call.

'Okay, I'm back,' I said as soon as I got outside, 'Sorry, I didn't want to risk anyone hearing...'

'This isn't very detective of you. Anyone would think your actually a traitor!' Kokichi said, giggling, 'Of course, you might actually be a traitor, but you never know...'

'Listen, did you have a reason to phone me, or were you just bored?' I sighed, 'Because I'm sure you have Phantom Thief stuff to do.'

'Yeah, I do. But I'd much rather talk to my beloved detective!'

'Well you're not gonna be able to talk to me,' I said, annoyed, 'Bye.'

I hung up the phone, and put it away in my pocket. I may as well get some food while I'm out.

I walked across the street to the nearby McDonalds. As I was about to go in, I noticed a familiar person from the previous night leaning against the wall.

'Why, fancy seeing you here,' Kokichi said, smirking, 'Big coincidence, right?'

'I...' I said, lost for words, 'Why are you here?'

'I definitely didn't call you for the purpose of tracking your location so I could see you!' He said, grinning, 'Why would I ever do that?'

'Well, I appreciate the effort, but I must be going,' I said, starting to walk into the McDonalds. Kokichi followed.

I took a seat at a table in a corner and he sat opposite me. 'McDonalds, huh? Not a bad choice for a first date!'

I felt my face go red. 'I- No! Hold on, why are you even here?'

'Why? Good question,' Kokichi said, 'I want to go on a romantic date with my Shumai!'

'Sh-Shumai?' I said, flustered.

Kokichi laughed. 'Yeah, that was a lie. I just want you to pay for my food.'

'Aren't you the Phantom Thief? Can't you pay for your own food?'

'Come on, you know food always tastes better when someone else is paying,' he scoffed.

'Fine. Come on, let's order.'

*****

Kokichi had persuaded me into buying a box of 20 chicken nuggets, while he had a Happy Meal.

He actually looked pretty cute while he was opening the toy...

'Woah, it's a car!' Kokichi exclaimed with genuine excitement, before ramming the toy car into the wall, 'Oops, now the children are dead!'

'You're just like a child,' I said, half-seriously.

Kokichi smirked. 'If I'm a child does that mean I can call you dadd-'

'N-NO!'

Half the people in the McDonalds turned to stare at me. I felt my face heat up even more with embarrassment.

'I- I'm regretting this already...'

'Come on Shumai, it's not that bad~'

I sighed. 'Stop calling me that.'

'Stop calling you what?' Kokichi asked innocently, 'Shumai? But it's cute! Like you!'

'I- W-What?' I stuttered, my face going red.

'It's true though! You're my hot, adorable emo detective!'

If it was even possible, my face got even redder. 'W-Wait, emo?'

Kokichi shrugged. 'You wear eyeliner.'

'And how does that make me emo?' I refute.

'I bet you listen to My Chemical Romance!'

'It's good music!'

'Wait, you...' he said, giggling, 'You actually listen to-'

'Shut up.'

I opened the box of nuggets, but before I could take one, Kokichi grabbed a handful.

'K-Kokichi! Stop!'

'What?' he asked, smirking, 'Stop what?'

'Stop stealing my food!'

'Isn't that what people do on dates?' Kokichi looked me in the eyes innocently.

'We aren't on a date!' I said, 'I barely even know you, I'm meant to be arresting you, and- Wait, why the hell am I eating food with the person I'm meant to be arresting...?'

As I sat there rethinking my life choices, Kokichi had stood up. 'Well, it was nice seeing you, but I don't exactly want you to call the cops on me, so... Bye!'

Kokichi ran off, taking the food with him. I stood up indignantly. 'H-Hey! That was-'

I slammed my face on the now empty table. Yeah, I'm stupid. And hungry.
