"Are you busy this weekend?" Jaehyuk asked as you kicked the pebbles on the sidewalk while he walked beside you. "We should go out."

"Not anymore." You huffed as you kicked the pebbles more aggressively. "We can go to the new exhibit downto—" You tried to suggest before getting cut off.

"What do you mean 'not anymore'?" He asked, confused at your first answer.

"Oh, it's nothing." You said quietly, looking at the ground. "My boyfriend just cancelled on me, nothing new." You said as you pressed your lips into a thin line, trying to smile as you looked up at him.

"I can't believe he did that again," Jaehyuk said as he recalled your past walks together. "He did that to you twice already, and that's just this month."

"He's in university now, what'd you expect?" You tried to defend your boyfriend, as Jaehyuk disappointedly shook his head at you.

"You should make time for the people you love." He said, recalling how you two were back then.

"What do you mean you were here since last night?" You quietly yelled at him as you shook him from the stack of books that he laid his head on.

"You told me you were going to be studying late." He said as he showed you the materials he brought. "So I thought I'd stay with you too, but you never showed."

"Yeah because I didn't know you were coming!" You said to the boy who waited all night for you who went out with your boyfriend. "If you told me, I would've called you to cancel."

"Have you ever heard of surprises?" He sassed back at you while running his fingers through his hair. "I don't think you call the person first before you surprise them." He continued making you flick his forehead in annoyance.

"What was that for?" He asked massaging the spot you hit. "I wasn't the one who ditched her best friend to go hang out with our senior."

"Sorry." You said as you sat beside him, massaging his forehead for him. "But you really should've told me so you didn't have to wait all night." You said as you took out the banana milk you were supposed to have and slid it towards him.

"I can wait for you forever, pabo-ya." He said as he patted your head playfully, pretending to joke around when he was serious with his words.

"He's just not as expressive as you." You defended your boyfriend, knowing how different his personality was with Jaehyuk's. "He's shy."

Jaehyuk sighed in defeat, staying silent as you two walked through the trees that had their leaves slowly turning into orange. He knew that you'll defend your boyfriend even after everything he said.

"You know I love you right?" Jaehyuk chimed looking up at the trees who slowly shook with the light breeze that was blowing.

"I know," You said turning back at him. "We promised to love each other since we were five Jaehyuk." You said as you recalled your pinky promise when you two were children.

"Just checking," He said as he made his way to you. "If you still remember, that I loved you first." He said as he passed you with his hands inside his pants pockets.

"Wait for me!" You said as you struggled to keep up with the boy who took long strides with his long legs. "Not everyone is gifted with height like yours!"

Your moods became lighter, as you two played around while walking home together. It was your final month in high school and with your academics clearing up, you two slowly had more and more free time as graduation approached.

"I'm going to miss walking home with you." You confessed. Jaehyuk and you go way back to preschool, with you two always going to the same school since you lived in the same complex. "I just wish we can still meet up a lot even if we're in university already."

"I'll make time for you," He said as he held his pinky out, just like he did when you two were kids. "I'll come if you want me to." He said as you intertwined your pinky with his.

You two continued your slow walk home together, enjoying each other's company as if it was your last, with Jaehyuk holding your bag from the side, as you almost crashed into a bike lane while you tried to catch the leaves that fell from the trees.

You two eventually got to your apartment complex, where a guy stood in front with a huge flower bouquet.

"Yoshi!" You yelled as you ran to him, leaving Jaehyuk behind to observe you two. "I thought you were busy?" You asked your boyfriend who gave you flowers.

"I figured it was about time I wait for you," He said feeling guilty at how he usually cancelled on you. "We should go on a date tomorrow." He suggested, making you look back at the guy who you previously made plans with.

"Go." He mouthed at you, giving you a thumbs up to reassure you it was okay, making you mouth an "okay" back to him.

"I should go up first," Jaehyuk bid to you two as he stood there awkwardly waiting for you two to finish. "Since you two look busy."

"I'm sorry Jaehyuk." You said as he gave you a slight nod before the elevator door closed.

Jaehyuk gave out a exasperated sigh, thinking about how your eyes lit up at the sight of your boyfriend. He felt defeated, as if he lost your heart to Yoshi's.

He thought about the numerous times he had to catch you as you fell for Yoshi by yourself, making him have second thoughts about going back down and fighting for you.

But alas, he decided to let you go. He felt as if he was just another victim of unrequited love.

Although he didn't want to, thinking that he still had a chance. He was always hit by the realisation every time he saw you, every time he saw how you're so in love, with somebody else.
