The clock above you read, as you continued typing away on your computer, a few tired sighs escaping your lips every few minutes.
Across from you sat your best friend, Kazuha, who was busy highlighting almost every line of her book.
"You forgot to highlight that 'the' over there." You teased your friend, giving her an exaggerated pout to which she responded with her middle finger, flipping you off.
"Very funny," She said back, giving you a fake laugh. "But I wouldn't be that confident if I was only on the 50th line of my code, for an assignment that needed 250 lines, at least." Kazuha shot back, making you two giggle at each other's words.
It was finals week and it sure as hell felt like that.
Assignments were due, papers were bound to be finished, and exams were just around the corner, waiting for their next victim to walk into the classrooms the next few days.
"So have you met with your boyfriend yet?" You asked your friend as you sipped on your iced coffee, stirring the straw a little bit to get a few more hints of caramel.
"We haven't even met once this week," She frustratedly answered. "It's busy travelling to and from our schools, especially since his university is on the other side of the city."
"So you guys are just–" You tried to piece together her words before she completed your sentence.
"Waiting out finals week, yeah." She said with an upside-down smile before she went back to reading her textbook.
Kazuha and her boyfriend were your typical friends-to-lovers trope during high school, and they were still the same in college. Maybe just with a few miles in between them since they couldn't meet up as much anymore.
But just like what they say: Distance makes the heart grow fonder.
Sometimes it makes you think about your relationship with Sunghoon. Although you and Sunghoon have a completely different dynamic from Kazuha's relationship, it still makes you think– if distance really makes the heart grow fonder.
You and Sunghoon actually knew each other longer than Kazuha and her boyfriend. You knew each other from elementary school, in fact, you two already liked each other from then.
It was the type of love that was childish, but pure.
You two weren't too hung up on actually dating each other back then— but, the mere presence of each other in your classrooms, seeing each other by the halls, and the occasional partnering up made you two the happiest in the world.
