Painful Sight

Elizabeth Cooper was born to a nice family, a nice mother and father and was an only child. However her father died in a car crash when she was only four, two to three years later her mother began dating another guy but he was extremely abusive to both of them. Eventually it lead up to one where he hit Elizabeth extremely hard that she was taken to the hospital at the age of 4. She was then announced as blind due to the severe head trauma she had went through several surgeries to fix her eyesight with no luck, she wore glasses the reason being she has a horrible scar on her right eye both of them were white and she grew up with kids making fun of her which was horrible. She and her mother moved again she was going into her senior year in high school and has had so many surgeries and none have worked. She was at her house as her mom slowly helped her around the house.

"Mom...it's fine I can do it." She explained.

Her mom sighed as she said "it's because I worry okay? I haven't proofed the house yet."

Alice sighed and Betty walked slowly using her sense of touch to feel around, she found the couch and slowly sat down and smiled.

Her mom said "I'm gonna go make some lunch, here's your walker, if you want you can try and go out but please don't do anything dangerous okay?"

Betty's POV
My name is Betty Cooper and I'm blind, my biological father died when I was 2 to 3 years old. My mom said he was the only man who made her feel love. It's cute. She got a new boyfriend and...he wasn't nice. The last thing I remember seeing before I became blind was him abusing my mom and then turning it to me. I remember that day vividly, I woke up in the hospital and I was scared because I couldn't see my mom. It's been like this ever since. I hope to one day see again, we've been to over hundreds of surgeons ever since I was like 5 to now I'm almost 17. It's been difficult not being able to see my mom and know how she looks like now...how I look like. It's hard but you get through it. I was walking the streets of the town Riverdale, I could smell the flowers, hear the birds around me chirping as I walked on the side walk, I then heard a car coming up and I stopped, you may think it's difficult to tell how to function normally but its quite simple, after loosing my vision it was at first one of the most hardest things to go through but after a while you get used to it. After a while I hit someone by accident.

I said "I'm sorry..."

I then heard "it's alright, you new to this town?"

I gulped saying "yes very...could you maybe help me? I'm parched."

She then said "oh well Pops is down the street."

I felt her grab my arm and I gulped lightly as I held her hand as she began walking so I followed.

"So your blind?" She asked me.

"I didn't mean for that to be rude!" She panicked.

I laughed and nodded fixing my sunglasses.

She said "well I'm Veronica, welcome to our small little town."

I laughed and said "Betty."

Soon I heard a door open, I slowly walked in as she helped me inside.

I said "your very kind...may I buy you something?"

She scoffed saying "your new let me buy you something."

I smiled and she helped me sit as she said "Pops, this here is Betty, I want a chocolate milkshake and... Betty which would you like? There's chocolate, strawberry, vanilla."

I smiled lightly saying "may I have vanilla?"

The man named Pops then said "coming right up."
