Painful Sight

Betty's POV
I was going into surgery today...it was July and I was extremely nervous, my mom and I both came to New York a week ago so they could check me and everything, have my vitals and ensure everything would be okay.

I was in my seat as I heard "Ms Cooper and Mrs Cooper"

I smiled and heard my doctor say "well...are you excited to finally have your sight back?"

I frowned gently saying "what if it doesn't work?"

She then said "out of all my patients none have come out without being able to see again. Don't worry okay? Just trust me."

I smiled and nodded as she said "alright...let's get you all prepped then."

I nodded and began waiting. I was laying down my hair tied back and I was with my mom holding her hand tightly, feeling the nerves boiling in my stomach.

She said "your gonna finally see again..."

I smiled saying "I'm happy..."

My mom kissed my forehead saying "after this...we will do whatever you would like."

I laughed and nodded as she said "however...it won't be with me."

I was confused and suddenly we heard "you guys ready?"

I said "yeah...I...I am..."

I smiled and my mom gave me one last kiss till I left.

Jughead's POV
I was packing to head to New York and my dad was crying.

"Really dad..." I told him.

He smiled and held my shoulders saying "your going to Princeton Jug..."

I smiled gently and he held me and I laughed as he cried more.

"Dad come on..." I told him.

He sighed and said "I just am so proud of you."

I smiled and he kissed my forehead saying "go show them who you are okay? And especially Betty."

I laughed and said "dad..."

He looked at me and I hugged him saying "thank you for everything you've done for me...thank you..."

He held me tighter saying "I may have messed up so much Jughead but I could never leave you."

I smiled and he kissed my forehead saying "now let's get you to the airport so you can see the love of your life."

I laughed and he smiled as we left. When I was finally boarding my place I got a call and I saw it was Mrs Cooper.

I picked it up instantly saying "yes?"

She then said "Jughead she was just taken into surgery..."

I smiled and she said "I have high hopes..."

I smiled and said "I just got on the plane I'll be there in a few hours."

She then said "thank you for being there for my daughter...I have never met a boy as amazing as you have been to our family."

I smiled saying "I just know Betty needs love and people who care around her nothing less."

She then said "I've gotta do some paperwork I'll call you with updates."

I then said "okay...will do..."

I hung up and smiled leaning my head back. I got my headphones on as thankfully no one bought the seat next to me, I laid down and smiled gently as the plane began leaving. When I arrived I got there late at night, I drove to my hotel that I was gonna stay since my boxes won't be shipped in till the date comes closer since I'll be moving into the dorm. I then decided to sleep in cause I was gonna be exhausted when I saw Betty so I did that.

Alice's POV
I smiled looking at a photo of my late husband holding Betty when she was only a month old.

"She'll finally be able to see again Hal...I just wish you were here to see it..."

I rubbed my eyes and smiled lightly as I closed the small necklace and saw the doctor and he smiled.

I walked up to him and said "did everything go fine?"

He then said "we had some problems considering she has been to multiple surgeries, however we worked through it and she did amazing."

I cried lightly and he smiled as I said "she's not awake right?"

He nodded saying "but you can go over and see her Mrs Cooper."

I smiled saying "thank you..."

He nodded and I walked to the room. I got there and saw bandages on Betty's eyes as she slept, I smiled and held her hand and kissed gently.

I told her "your gonna be okay Betty, your gonna be okay."

I kissed her forehead and cried lightly holding her. I slept in the room with her till sunlight came up, she had yet to wake up but this surgery took a little longer than I expected so I don't expect her to wake up sooner then she should. I was drinking some coffee as I decided to call Jughead to come over. I called him and he picked up.

I said "doctors said surgery went great and better then they expected."

He then said "that's amazing Mrs Cooper!"

I smiled and said "yeah, she has yet to wake up but if you would like to come and see her."

He then said"of course I'm just finishing up my lunch send me the address?"

He hung up and I sent him my location. When he arrived he hugged me and I smiled.

He asked "is she okay?"

I said "of course she is, come on."

I took him to the room and he saw her and smiled lightly.

He asked me "is she gonna wake up soon?"

I then said "she should, it was a long procedure so she may be out of it for some time."

He nodded and suddenly she began groaning and moving her hand and Jughead set her hand down as she winced holding the bandages on her face.

I shouted "we need a nurse she's awake!"

A nurse ran in and helped Betty get comfortable. Once she was she was on the bed laying down.

She asked "did it work?"

I laughed saying "we will see Betty."

I kissed her head as she said "who is this mother?" 

I smiled and asked "who do you think?"

She then said "the hand is really big."

She began moving her hand and touched Jughead's face.

I smiled as she smiled saying "Juggie..."

Jughead laughed and I looked away so they could kiss.

He said "I got here early in the morning and got here an hour ago."

Betty then said "mom I'm really hungry..."

I then said "I'll go tell them okay?"

She nodded and I walked out.
