Painful Sight

Betty's POV
I was eating breakfast as I said "why didn't we just stick to home school mom?"

She then said "because you have to learn to socialize."

I sighed and felt her grab my hand saying "hey... don't put yourself down just because you can't see."

I sighed and said "mom...it's easy for you to say when you can see everyone, see me and my eyes and think of me as a monster."

She scoffed saying "I don't!"

I sighed and said "why does everyone else does... why don't you just admit it?"

She sighed and said "Elizabeth....your my daughter I love you no matter what."

I drowned and put my head down and said "I don't wanna go to school...I'm scared..."

She then said "if anything happens just call me okay? I will come as soon as I can sweetheart... just try please?"

I nodded and said "okay..."

She lifted me from the chair and hugged me saying "I believe in you Betty, your the most amazing daughter anyone could have, I know you'll do great."

I smiled and nodded as she kissed my forehead saying "now you should get to school, come on."

I nodded and she helped me grab my stuff and we went to the car.

I got to school and she said "I packed you some lunch okay?"

I nodded and said "wish me luck..."

She laughed and I got out of the car.

I slowly walked to the school as suddenly I heard "Betty!"

I turned my head as I heard "it's Veronica remember?"

I smiled saying "hi..."

She smiled and said "don't worry, I will make sure we have all the same classes so I can help you with anything, now come on let's head to the main office." I nodded and I had my walked in one hand as she she helped me with the stairs and the whole school. As the day was going by she helped me and explained to the teachers my issue and she helped me figure out what I was doing. Soon enough we were at lunch.

"Thank you for helping me Veronica..." I told her.

She then said "don't worry girl, consider me your bestie."

I smiled saying "really?"

She then said "of course Betty, I hope to be best of friends."

I laughed and she did too. We sat at a table and I took out my lunch.

I then heard "so we have the new girl..."

Veronica then said "Archiekins, Kev, this is Betty the new student here."

I smiled as suddenly one of the boys said "cool sunglasses."

Suddenly I felt them be pulled off and I closed my eyes and covered them quickly frightened.

I asked "can I please...have them back?"

Veronica said "Kevin! Give them back she's blind!"

I heard them be put on the table and I grabbed them and put them on quickly and sighed adjusting them.

Kevin said "I'm so sorry..."

I shook my head saying "it's okay...don't do that again please?"

They then said "don't worry it won't happen."

I nodded and said "I'm blind in both eyes...the damage isn't that great so I wear sunglasses so I won't get embarrassed..."
