The following chapter may be triggering for some readers (panic/ anxiety attack)You were laying there, half asleep, half awake. You felt like you were floating in your cotton sheets. Your head was empty, yet you felt such joy. Right here in this moment you felt like everything was okay. You lay there, a smile forming on your face, the cool morning breeze tapping your skin, like Mother Nature was trying to wake you up, you opened your eyes and stared at the ceiling of your thin tent. Birds cheeping could be heard in the distance while you jumped out of bed. You walked with a spring in your step over to Pearson who was preparing breakfast
"Good morning Pearson! You handsome devil!" You cheered and he looked at you confusedly
"Good morning y/n? Still drunk?" He questioned
"I had one beer, don't insult me!" You both laughed and he whacked some porridge in a wooden bowl for you, you grabbed it with a thank you and went to your special hollow log. This was the latest you have woken up yet, but you were well rested and cheerful while watching the animals continue with life below and above you. "Who cares what happens? Whatever's supposed to be will be, right?" You thought to yourself while scraping your bowl for the remaining porridge, you threw it in your mouth and stood up, turning around to see Arthur getting on his horse, he spied you too and gave you a wink before galloping away.A few hours had passed now and the camp was quiet, a bit too quiet. You walked over to Javier and he offered to play dominos with you, you agreed even though you hadn't the faintest idea how to play. You held the smooth, white tiles in your hands and rubbed your thumbs along the dinted black dots in confusion. Javier tried teaching you, he even went easy on you while playing, but he still wiped the floor with you every time.
"Excuse me, miss y/l/n." You heard a voice come from behind you, you span around and your eyes met a beautiful blonde lady who you had seen around camp, but hadn't gotten a chance to speak to yet
"Will you ride with me?" She asked
"Sure, why not?" You answered while standing up and tucking the dominoes away. The blonde woman saddled up and stared at you
"I don't have a horse yet." You stated, clapping your hands on your thighs
"Well get on mine then!" She answered as if it were obvious. You climbed onto the back of her horse and gripped her waist. She smelled nice, nicer than anyone else at camp, but you still preferred Arthurs smell as it was comforting to you.
"Why did you want me to come with you again?" You questioned with voice cracks as the lady had made the horse gallop mid sentence
"I've seen you around and haven't got to speaking with you yet." She yelled back to you over the noise of the horse "and I need help picking up a parcel from the post office."
"Ahaaaa there's the reason!" You both laughed "what's your name by the way?"
"Sadie, Sadie Adler." Her voice cracked with the "Adler," but you thought nothing of it"what about you?" She questioned
"Y/n y/l/n." You replied thinking about what a nice name she had. You chatted until you arrived in Valentine. She sent you to the post office while she went to "check on Dutch" whatever that meant, but you couldn't be bothered to worry about it, so you set off aimlessly to receive her parcel. Horses and carriages passed you in the street as you greeted a Russian family. You walked into the post office and noticed a man sitting very suspiciously,
"Hello there, parcel for Sadie Adler?" You greeted the worker while keeping an eye on the man
"Just one second please." The worker responded, searching for Sadie's parcel. The mystery man was itching himself and sweating bolts
"ah, here we are!" Cheered the worker and he handed you the parcel, you thanked him and gripped it tightly, as you began to walk out the suspicious man turned around reveal a green vestTW// panic attack
"O'Driscoll." The voice in your head yelled at you, causing you to drop the parcel on the floor in panic, your breathe became weak, your head became hollow and it felt like the walls were caving in, suddenly all the chatter within the walls flew up in volume and turned into yells, you crumbled to the floor and squeezed your eyes closed. You rocked back and forth on the wooden floor begging your lungs to gasp for air, but they were forcing you to hold your breathe. You were sweating cold buckets and crying into your knees. Suddenly you felt an arm around you, you looked up to see Sadie. She held you tightly with both arms, pulling you into her chest for a few moments, allowing you to calm down, feeling her presents assured you, you caught your breathe
"Y/n what is your favourite colour?" She asked quickly
"What?"
"Favourite colour, go!" She replied
"I- y/f/c" you replied
"Great, what's your favourite animal?" She questioned again
"Y/f/a" you replied. She asked you a few more questions and you answered them.
"How are we now?" She asked grabbing your face and making you look at her, your cheeks were tear stained and your entire face felt numb
"Alright now thank you, scared, but alright." You looked around for the O' Driscoll but you only saw the same man, but wearing a yellow vest. Your brain had deceived you. You explained this to Sadie.
"Sometimes the biggest enemy of all is our imagination, just like with anything else you need to learn when it's being truthful." She answered you while helping you off the floor. She lead you outside when you bumped into John Martson and the posh man you hadn't yet spoken To either, but you believe his name to be Strauss or something along those lines.
"Y/n can you stay with me for one moment? I think Arthur wants you for something." John asked you, all you wanted was to go home right now, but you desperately wanted to see Arthur so you obliged. Sadie was in a rush to get back to camp so she set off back to home. A few minutes later a cool gush of constant wind blew on the side of your temple as you felt a hand over your mouth and someone forcing you to the floor. Your eyes darted around and witnessed John and Strauss with guns to their head too, that's when you realised there was no gush if wind, but the cool, devastating tip of a shotgun. You looked around in panic, but only you knew this wasn't going to end well.
