Chapter 7
"Katniss, are you okay?" Cato asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks," I say. "Thank you, too Finnick."
He throws an arm casually around me, "Anything for a friend,"
"You guys are definitely better friends than he ever was," I mumble.
"So whats the deal with you and Peeta Bread?" Finnick jokes.
I laugh a little, "Not sure yet. I mean, we like each other but we don't wanna wreck our lifelong friendship."
"Annie and I had the same conflict," Finnick explains, "But if you guys are meant to be, then... You won't really have anything to worry about. Annie and I could break up tomorrow, and I'd still be her friend, and part of her life forever."
"Really?" I ask.
"Really," he tells me.
"So I should go talk to him?"
"I would," He says.
I nod and smile a little, "Thanks Finnick,"
"Call me Finn, Kat," He winks.
I turn red but it's more out of embarrassment, I mean, yes, Finnick is... Good looking, okay fine he's hot. But I'm not willing to go for someone like that, I guess. Plus you can tell he's just a big flirt who is in love. Maybe he just practices pick up lines before he uses them on "the girl".
I see Marvel, Gloss, and Thresh still in the living room. The girls are also in there, Johanna, Clove, Glimmer, Annie, Fox, and Cashmere.
"What happened?! Did Gale go home?" Annie asks.
"Yeah, thanks to your boyfriend," I say with a small smile.
"Good, I can't stand the jerk." She says with a smile back.
I sit down in the circle again, I can't believe I can call all of these people my friends. I went from one and a half to like twelve in what seems like two seconds. I judged them and that was unfair. They all seem like genuinely good people.
Someone is missing from the circle, though.
Peeta. . .
"Where's Peeta?" I question.
"He's outside," Marvel answers.
"Thanks," I say, and get up.
I see his blonde hair from the back of his head, wavy and kinda messy but in a cute kind of way. His jacket is on him, and my exposed arms have goosebumps but I continue to walk outside, and sit on the edge of the step next to him, his hands both on either side of his body. I smile a little when he looks at me.
"What?" I ask, when it's been about two minutes and he hasn't torn his ocean blue eyes from my dull and dim grey ones.
"You're beautiful, that's what," he says.
I shake my head in disagreement, "Not really,"
"Shut up, yes you are," he says playfully, and shoves me with his arm. "When have I ever lied to you?"
"Never. . ." I trail off.
"Exactly, so why would I start now?" He asks.
"I don't know," I shrug.
There's a moment of silence, and I feel my arms getting colder, I cross them and rub circles on my own arms, trying to warm them up.
Peeta laughs a little, "This is going to be really cliche..."
