Chapter 5

Katniss's POV

It hurts when he puts the needle to my ankle, but after it starts to move it doesn't anymore, and I just try to focus on the positives of this. Which is a pernament memorial to my dad. My mom won't aprove of this, she says tattos are like the drug to skin, once you do it once you'll just want more and more. And she says when you get old they'll sag and look wrinkily like an un-ironed shirt. But on my ankle it should be fine, all that's there is bone. And I know this is worth it, I'll finally feel like my dad is with me, everywhere. Johanna is a good friend to take me here. I know I'm going to love it, I'm sure my dad would like it too, since he had a few tattoos he had to keep hidden in order to be in the military. He had my mom's name on his neck. He also had one for Prim and I, on each arm. Katniss roots for me, primrose flowers for her. And my mom never liked them, but of course that didn't bother him. They never fought about anything serious, but she hated, correction; hates tattoos and doesn't want anyone in her family with them. She'll never know I have this one though, for the simple fact that it will be covered when I wear jeans or socks. I won't hide it from her forever though, she'll find out someday and I won't care. I love it on me, and that's all that matters.

"Alright Katniss, it looks amazing." I turn, and stare at it in the mirror, the black ink with "Dad" written at the bottom of the small garden of roots.

"Thank you, so much, it's beautiful." I say.

He nods, "Anytime, I have to wrap it up though,"

"Okay," He wraps a bandage around it, with a cloth over the actual design, I go to pay the $30 it costs, but Johanna pays for both of ours, bringing it up to almost $70.

"I'm paying for it later," I tell her.

"Nope, this was my treat. Next time I'll let you pay."

"Next time?" I ask.

"Trust me Katniss, once you see how great that one looks on you, you'll beg me to take you back. Don't worry, I won't let you tattoo your entire body, that's just weird."

I laugh, "Okay, fine."

"Come on Jo, just wear the dress." I tell her. "I don't like them either but mine are all casual and comfy."

"Fine, fine, I'll take the short gold one." She says in defeat.

She goes in our only bathroom to change, I stay and go in the closet to put on my short green one.

Mine is knee length with some floral design, Johanna's is gold with some stripes on it. The simplicity of both of them is what I like.

"Could I... keep this?" Johanna asks, and I grin.

"Not as bad as you thought?"

She nods, "I love it."

"I knew you would, I have sandals if you wanna borrow some." I tell her.

"Okay," She puts on the matching gold sandals, and I slip into some black ones, and we walk to the bus station that will take us to Glimmer's house.

The bus ride is short, since the communities are al close together. Glimmer is in District One, also known as "Rich people Ville" they have all the money you could imagine. I'm in District 12, poorest of the poor. Our school is in the Capitol, and it's the closest to District 1. But once again, it doesn't take long to get there since all of the communities are close together.

When the bus comes to a stop at our destination, we get out and start walking to Glimmer's house. I pull out my phone where she left her address under her contact. I don't really need it though, because who else's house would have about 250 kids, loud music, and some light changing thing?
