"How do you like them?" Shuri smiles at her modifications to my gauntlets.I twist my wrists around and admire her work. She kept the traditional emblem of the brotherhood on the silver metal cuffs with only a few noticeable tweaks. The metal was now lined with glowing red strips that pulsed with energy as if it were alive, the strips accented the original designs by following the patterns carved into the cuffs. Leather, fingerless gloves were added with slightly curved, metal knuckle plates for extra pain in hand to hand combat, a plate sat on the back of the hand with those glowing strips pulsing every second. My right hand was the same as it used to be with—even these small adjustments—the blade untouched. Yet, she added a new gadget. Placed next to the casing of the blade was a sharp hook.
"Throw that towards the leg of that table." She points across the room before demonstrating how the hook detaches from the gauntlet. A wide grin was glued on her face when I swang my arm down and the silver hook twang on the concrete next to my foot, a red rope of energy pulsed from a small cap on the gauntlet all the way down to the base of the hook. I nodded my head. Impressed.
I swing the hook to the table and watch as the rope stretches from nothing. I pull the table slightly once catching onto it with the rope lighting up as it wrapped around the leg, I shake my hand to free the table and the hook retracts back to its host. "Bello. (Nice.)"
I turn my attention to my left cuff, the one with the most modifications.
It had the same gloves on both hands, the leather creaking with every movement my fingers made. The top of the cuff had an elongated triangle up the middle with its base lifted less than a centimetre off the decorated metal surrounding my wrist and half my forearm. The red strips decorated this gauntlet more than the other, the base of the triangle had small glowing dots that faced out and over the back of my hand.
"Your new gun." Shuri smiles and I glide my attention up to her. I aim at a chair the same distance away as the table and the blast of bright energy from the gun forces my arm back, my shoulder luckily keeping it in place. I turn my hand over and examine the blade.
Flicking it out it seemed longer than my other. There was a small circle on the blade in the area located in the centre of my palm. I pushed the edge of the blade and twisted it to the base of my hand, holding it like a dagger as a subtle hook—shaped as the head of an eagle—stuck out between my thumb and index finger.
"I got inspiration from a later generation of your brotherhood for that one." Shuri clasps her hands together and I nod my head. "I laced the cuffs with vibranium and kinetic energy, which means they are now... everything proof." She smiles.
"Thank you, Shuri. This exceeded my expectations." Leonardo would love to see and test these modifications out for himself. That's only if I go back. The red she used reminds me of the crimson dye on my brother's and I's robes. The famous Auditore family colour.
"It was a pleasure." She replies and turns to pack up her mess. "I'm going to have to get a new chair thanks to you." She scoffs and I droop my brows.
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be, I was planning on getting a new one anyway." A weight was lifted from my shoulders before I turned to leave.
"Thank you," I pause at the double doors, "again."
On the way through the hallways, I fiddled with my new modifications. Flipping and twisting my new hidden blade in my left hand and dropping, pulling, dropping and pulling the hook on my right cuff. I put the blade back into its case and reeled in the hook to its cap when I walked towards the glass study that bucky sat silently in. My body halted at the edge of the glass that connected to the thick concrete wall, peering in at his form studying new folders. My mind battled on entering or leaving.
