"Stai bene? (Are you ok?)" My brother's soft voice cut out the sound of the chirping birds diving for fish in the open water ahead of me. I swing my legs back and forth, hitting my heels against the stone wall that kept people from falling into the water reflecting my face. "Qui. (Here.)" He holds out a wooden cup filled with water.

"Grazie. (Thank you.)" I take the cup from him and look at my reflection in the ripples of the ocean water. Ezio climbs onto the wall and sits next to me. We both look out into the distance at the crowds of boats sailing out to sea. "I'm guessing today was a normal day for you?" I ask and look back into the small cup in my hands.

"Sí. (Yes.)" He answers softly. "But if he was our friend, he wouldn't betray us." He rests his hand on my shoulder and I look into his eyes.

"It doesn't really bother me that much, but..." I sigh and take a sip of water, "non importa. (nevermind)."

"No, I get it." He nods his head, showing me a reassuring smile. "Non è facile essere un assassino. (It's not easy being an assassin.)"

"Well, you make it look easy." I chuckle. "I just wasn't expecting... you know–" I shrug my shoulders and he nods, understanding everything I meant.

"You're not thinking of quitting are you?" He smirks and I laugh.

"No, sicuramente no. (No, definitely not.)" I shake my head and skull the rest of my water. "Before I became an assassin, it felt like there was a part of me that was missing." I turn my head to look at him. "But then you offered me to join the brotherhood and it was like that small part of me was filled," he smiles, "but yet, there's still something missing." I look at the water below my feet.

"The life of an assassin is pain," he pauses, "you suffer it, you inflict it, you watch it happen." I look up into his eyes. "With the hope that you can help it disappear in time." I've never heard him speak like this. He's always been so full of life, full of optimism and wit.

"Where is this coming from?" I smile and furrow my brows.

"So che sembra buio. Terribile ironia! (I know it sounds dark. Terrible irony!) He chuckles and I giggle.

"Sì, è terribile. (Yes, it is terrible.)" I drop my head as silence fell and only the whistling wind causing ripples in the seawater was audible.

"Mi mancherai. (I'll miss you.)" Ezio's tone got lower and his voice became a whisper. I raise my chin and look into his puppy dog eyes.

"I won't be gone for long." I attempt to smile but my thoughts break my emotions. I have no idea what I'm going up against, I don't know how time travel works. There's so much I still have to learn.

"Do you want to go for a run?" Ezio rests his hand on my shoulder and I nod my head.

"Decisamente! (Definitely.)" I smile and swing my legs around, hopping onto the street. "I'll take this back." I lift the cup that Ezio gave me.

"I'll be on the roof." He nods his head and I smile as he hops down next to me.

"Don't do anything stupid until I get there." A cheeky smirk replaces my smile.

"I can't promise you anything." He spins on his heels and begins climbing up the closest building.

"Dov'è Ezio? (Where's Ezio?)" Leonardo asks as he takes the wooden cup from my hands.

"Sul tetto. (On the roof.)" I purse my lips together in a straight line and Leonardo shakes his head.

"Tipico. (Typical.)"

"I'm going to go for a run with him." I stretch my right arm across my body, Leonardo turns to face me.

He rests both his hands on my shoulders and stares deeply into my eyes. "Stai attento. (Be careful.)" He gives me a soft smile. I nod my head when he let's go of me.
