"Thanks. I needed this," Dahyun says as she downs a shot of the lemon drops Jimin whipped up for the both of them earlier. They were at his and Hoseok's bar, which was empty save for the both of them since it was a Sunday. She wanted to go where her family couldn't find her, so she decided to tag along to wherever Jimin was going. It was a plus that she wanted to get drunk and he seemed to need a drink too.
"These are good. I guess you're really into drinking and partying, huh?" she says after what feels like an hour of silence.
"You're not obligated to make small talk with me, you know?" He's noticed that both of them have been triggered one way or another back at the party, so he's more than okay with drowning whatever their individual sorrows were in silence.
"But to answer your question; yes. My parents were okay with me and Jihyo drinking at a young age, part of why I think our friends always joke about strong alcohol tolerance being the 'Park trademark'. I'm the type to do it just for fun though, I'm not really the type to get drunk and party just to feel rebellious or forget my worries, if you get what I mean."
"Hmmm," Dahyun lets out while staring at their reflection on the bar's mirrored backsplash. She realizes it's been a while since they were completely alone and they were just talking.
"How about you? You don't look like the type to be getting drunk at 4:00 PM on a Sunday," Jimin asks.
"Hey! I thought you said we don't need to make small talk?" She says as she pushes him slightly to the side. "But just so I can answer your question too, I just started drinking two years ago, I think? And I don't really party, maybe occasionally with Tae and our friends."
Dahyun pauses to down a shot before continuing, "Believe it or not, I used to be exactly the obedient, prim, and proper daughter my family wanted."
"Mind if I ask why you aren't so prim and proper now?"
Jimin meant it as a joke, but he might have been a tad too careless because he saw Dahyun frown at the question.
"Let's just say I became the type to get drunk just to feel rebellious and forget my worries," she quotes what he said earlier.
"Sorry if that hit a nerve. It's okay if you don't want to talk about it," Jimin says.
He gets up to make another round of drinks as they easily got through the first set he made. Dahyun remains seated with her head propped on her hand, watching Jimin move around behind the bar as he mixes what looks like a Kamikaze this time.
"You're a guy, so I don't think you'll understand," Dahyun replies.
"Like I said," Jimin says as he pours the new cocktail on both of their glasses, "Only tell me if you're comfortable."
Dahyun really wasn't going to tell him, but then she realizes he's probably the only person she could talk to like this who didn't know Eunwoo. Although she knew Taehyung, Jungkook, and Sana did their best to empathize with her at the time and she was thankful for that, she felt as if she couldn't fully express her side because they knew him almost as well as she did. He used to be part of their gang.
"So, you saw my ex earlier. I broke up with him the summer after freshman year and I haven't been Miss Goody-two-shoes ever since. We were together for six, almost seven years," Dahyun starts.
Jimin was settling back down on his abandoned bar stool.
"Wait. That means you guys were together since grade school?" He tries his best to hide his shock, but Dahyun just laughs.
